Question Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

Who does everyone think will replace Coach Prioleau? I think Jeff Grayer would be a good fit, and so would Jake Sullivan.

I agree that if Grayer has the necessary qualifications, he would be a good hire.

Grayer would help our chances with Darius Stevens in the future too.

Coaches don't usually reach for the closest past player that the fans loved. They have their connections that they'll use.

I'd like to see someone from around the same level Jean was - he was at Marquette, I'd like an assistant from a similar level with solid recruiting credentials.

Re: Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

Jake Sullivan

Absolutely, without question, it should be Jake.

He is a fantastic coach. As good as he was a shooter, he may be an even better coach.

He has the name recognition to recruit. Not only from his days playing for ISU, but also from his prominence in AAU circles. And then there is Harrison Barnes.

The most important recruit in recent years, Harrison Barnes, is currently a pupil. Our chances of getting Barnes would have to be better with Jake on the staff.

Make it Jake!

Re: Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

Good luck to Prioleau, although it does bum me out that he is leaving for TCU and not getting a head coaching gig. I mean I can't imagine the money is better.

I don't know who Mac will look to hire but I think it's a pretty safe bet that it won't be Grayer or Sullivan.

Re: Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

Our chances of getting Jake to join the coaching staff are about as good as a popsicle's chance in hell. Jake has a young kid (and I think one on the way) and he enjoys the AAU gig. I'm pretty sure he likes where he is at and wouldn't move from the All Iowa Attack.

...doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have him. Great guy.

Re: Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

I don't know if they get along or not. Some of the speculation on that comes from Jake's comments on KXNO in December. I think Jake was just giving his honest opinion about life in the Big XII.

If Jake is right for the job, both parties would be smart to leave small differences behind.

Not sure what the two kids have to do with it. He wouldn't be moving.

He might not have to totally divest himself of his ownership in Attack. Would he?

Being a coach and a competitor, it's likely that he will eventually want to move up to a bigger stage.

He doesn't own them, he just coaches them. And I think that he would have to give it up since contact with the kids (who would be considered preps) would be regulated under NCAA rules.
