Isn't Pri kind of the "Texas Recruiter" on the staff as well? I think it's a good move for him. I have no problem with it and the sky isn't falling. It's McD's job to fill the spot with another capable assistant.

Is Jean married? Maybe his wife got tired of the winter.
I'm ready for global warming to kick back into gear.

Couldn't agree more. He loves Texas and he has the chance to be #1 Asst. not the recruiting coordinator/coach. Why do people have to go off the deep end on things.

Well, off the top of my head, I know that he came here from Marquette, and prior to that was at Wichita State.
I've seen his display in the trophy case at Fordham, where he is absolutely revered there from his playing days. I've heard him say that he misses NJ - NY area, where he grew up...
So, why would coaching at TCU be on his list of personal goals?

ASU was 2-16 in the PAC-10 in Sendek's first year and they did not make the NCAA tournament last year...I don't think winning was the reason Phelps got the job. It was because Sandy Hatfield-Clubb had ties to him at Arizona State.

ASU went 21-13 this year, 9-9 in the conference, beat arch-rival Arizona both times, and is on the obvious upswing. Phelps would not have gotten the Drake job if ASU was not now winning, no matter how much Sandy HC liked him. She couldn't have sold it. Assistants from winning programs get the head jobs.
This JP thing is a big loss IMO because he is so classy, articulate, and such an excellent representative of Iowa State. These are big shoes to fill.

I agree with you, and it's McD's job to get somebody else that is a good coach like Pri. They are big shoes to fill, but they were filled before and they'll be filled again.

I always thought Jean was our best assitant coach, I'm not surprised to see him leave. I guess I assumed that he was our ast. head coach, if he wasnt... who was?

Thanks for the update Jon and keeping people in line on the story. I'm not sure what world some ISU fans live in. People change jobs everyday. People leave good companies to work for other companies and better themself and their situation. This is no different.

So, why would coaching at TCU be on his list of personal goals? Why would ISU be on his list? Marquette to ISU was probably a step down for him for the outsider looking in (although he may have been higher on the totem pole at ISU than he was at MU).
