Harrison Barnes (tournament in Kansas)

Harrison is on the front page of Scouts.com. The free portion...

Jayhawk Invitational: Day Three Rundown
LAWRENCE, Kans. – Championship day at the Jayhawk Invitational was a family affair as the host teams made the championship game in each division. Harrison Barnes also stepped up and proved himself as an elite prospect.

Re: Harrison Barnes (tournament in Kansas)

Let's hope he doesn't pick up a KU offer this weekend. From some things I've heard, I'm starting to feel more confident about Harrison, but that's all i'm going to say.

Re: Harrison Barnes (tournament in Kansas)

I'm sure Harrison will have many offers, including KU, but I'm not worried about it. He's just getting his props for playing well, which apparently he's been doing on the circuit.

Re: Harrison Barnes (tournament in Kansas)

To land a recruit of his caliber would be a HUGE boost for this program. Plus being a local kid he definitely would earn a lot of respect and popularity if he committed to ISU. All anyone needs to do is look at how much our fan base supported Lucca and his situation and he has yet to play a minute for us. Considering Barnes sat with Lucca at games I'm sure he's well aware just how great of fans we have.

In the end whatever school he choses you have to respect his decision. We all would love to see him in a Cyclone uniform though.

Re: Harrison Barnes (tournament in Kansas)

HB has lived in Ames his entire life and thats all he really knows. He's now finding out he can probably play anywhere in the country he wants. When I was his age, the thought of leaving home and beginning to make my own life was VERY appealing. If he signs with ISU then it will be very special but if he doesn't, it should have NO reflection on the job that GMac is doing.

Someone send his Mom a giftbasket.

I hope he picks up offers from a bunch of programs and still commits to us. That would be the best case scenario.

If we are fortunate to land HB we will have to come up with a nickname like we did with Freddie (Mayor). Any ideas?

Be careful with that. You may get a visit from the Compliance Linebacker.

HB will be headed for the big city life soon enough in the NBA. There is no reason for him to move from home, then move again 2-4 years later to the NBA, then keep moving every 3 or 4 years.

I've always been partial to staying with the civic theme and anointing the next prodigy out of Ames "The Comptroller", but for some reason it hasn't caught on.

In the next election (after HB is actually enrolled at ISU) we'll have to start write-in ballot campaign for something. Sheriff maybe? Or Senator? City Attorney?

Re: Harrison Barnes (tournament in Kansas)

One thing we can offer him is a heck of loud facility to play in and probably being "the man" instead of being 1st guy off the bench.

Everyone brings up valid points though.

By the way...whats up with his dad? Is he close to him? I assume his mom remarried and Harrison took that name?
