Our APR rating

http://www.indystar.com/assets/pdf/BG10778056.PDF

Apparently we come in with an ugly rating of 869 which puts us at 311th out of 337 MBB teams. My question is, why have we not lost any scholarships or anything? There are several schools above us which lost scholarships (including KSU) and I can't figure out why we wouldn't be penalized here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but it does seem bizarre. We really have a long way to go when it comes to the APR.

Re: Our APR rating

Maybe because they have improved and for this year were at a score of 930 and didn't have anyone leave in bad standing.

The article in the Register says we took two away from ourselves last year...

Re: Our APR rating

Didn't they take into account the transfers when McD came to town? I think transfers hurt your ratings - but not sure if they hurt as much with a coaching change. I'm trying to pull this from memory, so that is my disclaimer.

Re: Our APR rating

Its really tough for me to believe that even with all of the transfers in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 that we are last in the Big XII in this category. On the bright side we are improving with the foundation of our program rebuilt we should see less and less defections as time goes on....

It's a 4 year average...You'll see the APR jump up in two years.

Re: Our APR rating

Their average improved and the team didn't have any 0/2 (transfer/eligible)which would cause them to lose scholarships. Also I believe there is a new rule which allows student-athletes to leave and not penalize the team if their GPA is a set number when they transfer.

Yes, the new, relaxed transfer rule started last year so as that rule filters in we should see the rates get much better. The guys that left this year won't hurt near as bad as the guys that left the last few...

Re: Our APR rating

This is why:

Many of the problems facing the Cyclone men's basketball program are the result of six players — Curtis Stinson, Will Blalock, Shawn Taggart, Tasheed Carr, Mike Evanovich and Farnold Degand — leaving after the dismissal of coach Wayne Morgan and hiring of Greg McDermott.
Until those guys are not counted in the average our score is going to be low.

Re: Our APR rating

Do guys like Taggart and Carr count against us even though they transferred and are now playing elsewhere?

Under the old system yes. They were considered 1 for 2; meaning they were eligible (1 for 1) but still transferred (0 for 1).

Didn't they take the hit in Mac's first year to get it out of the way. I thought I read something like that back then.

cybsball-

Was the photo in your signature the farewell from the players to the fans? I hope ISU is able to bring baseball back and would just hate to see us drop it a UNI. Something very un-American about dropping baseball.

Any word in the ISU camp about bringing it back?
