True. And a lot of criticism to Mc because the team wasn't doing as well as they might have. I kept saying "Wes is hurt out there, people".

I'm not sure about "worlds of improvement", because much of defense is about lateral movement and quickness, let alone leaping, which Wes was severely restricted in. I think he'll be fine defensively next season. It probably won't hurt, either, if he's defending more forwards than guards.

Let's see, six weeks before resuming basketball activities? Heck, let's give him seven to be safe, and say the end of June. When does the Cap City League run?

It might also hurt if he has to pass on, say, any Big !2 all star overseas tours that he might otherwise have been invited on--but some of those are awfully late in the summer.

Indeed, if he's completely healthy, I have this suspicion that there will be at least two '09 scholarships available. On the positive side, can't you just see both he and CB slashing in from the wings, and skying for rebounds?

(I was looking for a "drool" smiley)

Wes is not leaving early for the NBA.

Huh. Good thing that you can predict the future a year from now (let alone Wes or Craig's performance this winter). What I wanna know is, what are the Powerball numbers this Saturday? PM me privately, please...I'd rather not share with 10 million other people--kinda defeats the purpose.

Curtis and Will were both better players than Wes during their years here. They both made the mistake of leaving early, Wes won't make that mistake.

If he would just share it with that prince from Nigerian, maybe more people could share in the winnings. Talk about being selfish..................

I hate how these threads become a rehashing of old arguments. How about we just give Wes some props for playing through what must have been major pain, and know that our future might be a bit brighter than we thought.

They also both made the mistake of only growing to be about 6'1"--success in the NBA is often directly proportionate to height, and there is a glut of point guards. Should Wes put up the type of season that Marcus Fizer did, he is decidedly not the kind of 'tweener that Marcus proved to be. For that matter, given that Wes basically lost his sophomore season to a fluke injury, he'd be nuts not to go if he were a likely lottery pick, considering even a small risk of repetition.

But that's just projection of potential from his freshman year and the brighter spots of his soph season, rather than proven fact. Wes still has healing and rehab to do, and sometimes those things don't go well. Heaven forbid!

That's pretty good, but I think he has about 8 years to go.

I think you're getting way ahead of yourself here talking about lottery picks.

I think I already 'settled' that the lottery picks go to the Nigerian prince, so that he can help us all.

Perhaps that's where the whole "If" came in. However, Wes clearly has that kind of potential.

I feel much more stupid after reading this thread. Time to drink some beer to feel smarter.

That about sums it up...unfortunately until that first game in the fall, we are going to have a lot of threads like that.

I hope he gets better before he "pushes" himself again.

My avatar is a pic I took from my phone camera at the spring game. Gotta love Cy on a bike.
