At least Adam had a legit reason (that his coach was fired) and he went to his childhood favorite team. In fact, if it wasn't the Hawkeyes, I wouldn't have been mad at Adam.

We booed and hated Adam Haluska for basically the same thing. The only difference is that he went to a rival. Are fans supposed to just be ok with Wesley leaving?

I think those ones can be explained reasonably. CJ saw the writing on the wall that he wasn't going to be a major contributor and moved to a smaller school. From what we've heard, Vette was homesick and is now going to a smaller school. Both of those guys seemed to recognize they fit in better at a lower level. Both players also parted ways saying that their departures had nothing to do with the coaching staff.

Cyfan 13, we can imagine alot of possible reasons but none may be true. All I can see is that things don't sound good.

I may have lost respect for how he handled things, but he still has an incredible amount of talent.
Oh yeah...don't forget that ISU also paid for the screw in his ankle--in more ways than one.

So, anyone close to the situation want to answer this question or not?

That's hard to handle.
There, now the truth's out there.

a point of reference... cyfan13 has enjoyed and even fed the anti-McD crowd... her methods of being vague and then reassuring us she knows what is going in this situation has her goosebumps exposed. While she has had good info and at times insight... she only lets go of it here if it follows her opinion. And this a mild dislike of the current coaching staff and the Athletic Department.
I only ask you take her thoughts/knowledge with a small grain of salt, knowing her perspective and flair.

Wesley may have put a lot into this program in his two years, but the program did not benefit from the fruits of his labor to the level that is desired. That's okay, as long as he is helping move the program in a positive direction like those before him. Instead, when the program needs him most, he abandons it. Forgive me, but for all the work and effort Wes put in to it, that rather than having a positive benefit for ISU, he tore the heart out of the program.
I hope we have enough left to survive and flourish without him, but losing your best proven returning player, is not something that gives a new struggling coach a reasonable chance to succeed in a tough Big 12. Maybe Wes doesn't care about that. But a lot of good Cyclone fans do. You can understand why there is animosity toward someone that we only had a glimpse of what they were capable of, but never had a chance to harvest.
It does make us appreciate all the more those that stuck with ISU during hard times.

Wow, you misinterpreted that horribly. By no means was I insinuating that Mac was a racist. He just may not connect with black players in the way he can white players. That is why I mentioned him hiring a black coach after he lost one. That coach is there to relate to the black players. Why do you think Morgan was such a good recruiter?

Cyfan 13,
Unlike alot of the posters I was actually in Las Vegas for the tournament before Chirstmas. I do recall a heated exchange between W. Johnson and McDermott during one of the TV timemouts. There was some physical contact that was made but it appeared that after the timeout was over everything was "cool." I only mention this because a poster indicated that Wes had his mind made up since Las Vegas and this is the only "incident" that I could recall over those two games.
I certainly respect your decision to keep Wes' reasons for leaving within the basketball family. In fact I would expect that. Many fans are upset with the decision and the way in which it occurred. I hope that Wes got some good advice and thought this decision through. Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side and sometimes it is not. I certainly don't wish Wes any ill. At the same time, it will probably be a few months before I can wish him the best of luck.
