Recruits since 2004....
Well, this "wonderful" Wesley news made me go back and look at our recruit lists on rivals.com. When you really look at what has happened with our basketball program it's quite pathetic. Here is the breakdown.... 2004 Recruits: Aaron Agnew - Transferred Tasheed Carr - Transferred Ivan Chiriaev - Never came to ISU Rashon Clark - Played all four years Anthony Davis - JuCo - I believe he played his full 2 years (can't quite remember) Robert Faulkner - Kicked off team for grades I believe Success rate: 1 out of 6 2005 Recruits: Farnold Degand - Transferred Mike Evanovich - Transferred Jessan Gray - Played out his career for ISU Jiri Hubalek - Played out his career for ISU Kellen Lee - Never made it to ISU Ross Marsden - Left team Shawn Taggert - Transferred Success rate: 2 out of 7 2006 Recruits: Dodie Dunson: Transferred Cory Johnson: Transferred Wesley Johnson: Transferred Mike Taylor: Given the old mud boot off the team Corey McIntosh: Transferred Succes rate 0 out of 5 For the 2007 recruits, the results, obviously are still out. So far 2 guys from the class have left ISU. Will any of them finish their careers at ISU, who knows. For the years I've shown above, we have had 3 out of 18 recruits actually finish their careers at ISU. I was hoping this trend would stop when McD took over the reigns, but it just seems to have gotten worse. Is this coach's fault? Probably not. But if you look at the other major conference programs around the country I bet you none of them have our track record. If ISU wants to start competing we need to have players get in the system and STAY in the system. Thanks for your time.

I would guess Pollard has the same concerns and questions that we do about this ridiculous transfer pattern.

Clark and Davis make 2 out of 6. That makes the grand total 4 out of 18. Doesn't that sound better? -
Re: Recruits since 2004....
For me the disconcerting part isn't the departures from the 04 or 05 classes. They were the recruits of an old coach and maybe didn't just mesh with the new one, the troubling part is McDermott's failure to keep any recruits from his first class.

Ivan - Never planned on attending school, he was a recruit to up the nation recruiting average.
Keelen Lee - Never had an offer from Iowa State, he committed to coming but didn't have an offer.
You are also forgeting Theo Davis who transfered to Gonzaga after 5 days on campus

Reggie was from the 2003 class.

Re: Recruits since 2004....
The players that couldn't contribute from Wayne recruiting classes were Aaron Agnew and Mike Evanovich. Those players were leaving no matter who was the coach.
Tasheed you could put in that boat as well I guess, he seems to have found a home where he is very successful.
Rob Faulkner was a good ball player, couldn't keep his nose out of trouble.
Then there are the players that left during the coaching change, that is a complete different kind of transfer. I guess I think they should be excluded.

Just thought we might want to break it into more trends, I'm a stat guy I guess.

This is alarming. While we don't need a Jess (seven years in uniform)Settles, having SOME players stay from year to year would be nice...

I look at it this way. I'm a big miniature golf guy. I play in about 25 to 30 mini-golf tournament per year. Would I want to show up at each tourney with a completely brand new putter? HECK NO! I want to show up using my trust Green Goblin every time. It's won me more than a few tournaments because I know how to use it and it just has the right feel. How can ISU ever get a feel for McD's offense if there are new kids every year? When will the Cyclones get their Green Goblin?
