If HB goes anywhere besides ISU - I hope it is to TCU. I'd rather have a "have-not" team like TCU get him than any of those "have" programs - KU, Duke, KY, NC...
Although, one "have-not" program that I hope he doesn't go to is the Hawkeyes!

I think for ISU to have a shot at HB we will have to start winning games. Period!
yeah excpet in an effort to get Barnes, coach Pri could be telling him reasons why Barnes would not be a good fit at ISU. It would be different if someone like Crean was saying it, Barnes should not put any stock into it. But if a coach who was in the program like Pri was, then Barnes would hold that in higher regard. I'm not saying TCU has a chance, but this just opens the door for effective negative recruiting against ISU which could help out another school besides TCU.
My gosh, change the offesne to fit the new players. Scoring 51 against good teams only puts tremendous pressure on the defense. Be like Drake or Kansas or Nebraska or somebody that get into the 60s against good teams. Our parking lot offense should be retired. Ball movement needs to come back to Ames. Two years of mid 50s is enough. And yes, I do not count the point runup against the Bethune Cookmans of the world. I count in conference. Since we have no real rebounders we better pass the ball and shoot well. Yes, Craig neeeds to add 20 pounds to be a better rebounder.
If HB were to go to TCU it would be to be at a smaller college environment. Some kids like it and some don't. I have the feeling that really won't sway him. IF he goes out of state, it will be a big-time school.
Settle down there, we will see how many stay on campus more than two seasons. Of the four you listed, 2 have played d-1 ball. I know Brackins was a freshman, but I do not see him as a guy that can put a team on his shoulders until his senior season. Garrett has the potential to be an above average PG based on some of the plays I saw him make. Lucca has to feel like the weight of the Cyclone world is on his shoulders. Between him and Eick coming in, you would think Jesus is coming to Ames twice this coming season from what I have heard from everyone.
Can someone tell me what McDermott's best conference finish was in the MVC?I know his last season he finished fifth with all that talent and slumped big time down the stretch.
I think its pretty well known on this board that when people refer to 3 years from now there is a transparent asterisk stating that who knows if the guys will be here or not.
So my post should have read:
"With Lucca, Brackins, Garrett, Buckley and that Potential 2010 class we could be pretty damn good.*"
*who knows if the guys will be here or not
As far as Lucca and Eik..
Eik should probably redshirt, but will most likely be forced into action due to WJ bouncing
Lucca hasn't played in a game yet, but has the body and has a year of the system under his belt. Plus playing on the German National team probably didn't hurt either. He should be good to go.
We haven't had the players to push the ball the last 2 years. Pushing the ball only to make poor decisions doesn't win games. People want us to win games and they also want us to play up tempo. We couldn't do both the last 2 years. We barely won games the way it was. Please don't say "We might as well lose by playing up-tempo as opposed to playing slowy".
I am betting people are goingt to be suprised how much better our guard play in next season (even without WJ)
I agree that the guard play will be much better - Petey and Haluska even were playing a lot better at the end of last season and we're adding a bunch of guys again.
However, the rebounding will be surprisingly bad as well unless somebody really steps up next season.
