He is raw and there will be a learning curve, but I'm hoping that Pomlee can add in this category.

Garrett has the potential to be an above average PG based on some of the plays I saw him make. Lucca has to feel like the weight of the Cyclone world is on his shoulders. Between him and Eick coming in, you would think Jesus is coming to Ames twice this coming season from what I have heard from everyone.

Can someone tell me what McDermott's best conference finish was in the MVC?I know his last season he finished fifth with all that talent and slumped big time down the stretch.
I chuckled at this comment because it is not too far from the truth.

I still recall someone stating that WJ could have been a legend had he stayed at ISU but now he will only be a footnote.

These two guys are at "legend" status in the minds of many Cyclone fans and neither one has ever played a minute of DI CBB.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

    Re: Interesting...

I actually think we'll miss Rahshon's rebounding more than anyone else's. WJ didn't rebound well at all last year, and who knows if his leg would be 100% this season. I think JVB will be at least as good a rebounder as Jiri was. I loved Jiri's effort, but he couldn't get off the ground at all. Maybe his foot was bothering him all season. Between Lucca's suspension, all the injuries our guys battled through and the lack of experience in the guard court, we shouldn't be surprised with the way the team finished in 07-08. I'm expecting a much improved season even without a health WJ. Our guards should be pretty darn good, and let's hope none of them pull a Brister on us.

This has been said before, but Jiri has been a top 10 rebounder in the Big 12 the last two years. I'd be surprised if VDB can step in and do that well.

I'm counting on Pomlee to get some boards.

Does anyone in the league have a Durant / Beasley type "one and done guy" that is coming in and will be on the top of this list next year? I don't keep up with recruiting that closely.

This is kind of sobering...someone is really going to have to step up for us next year on the boards because the three guys we have counted on the most in this area over the last two years are all gone. You know what they say about rebounding and defense.

Man, I cannot tell you how much I would like for us to have the next Durant / Beasley coming in. Wouldn't that be great!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Not this year, though Texas has a guy that could be if they greatly improve

I don't think we'll have anyone average over 7 boards a game this season - including Brackins.
