HB is so versatile and he can do it all. He would make our program whether we want to admit it or not. He would be worth more than Wesley long term to our program.
Looks like he has Dykstra committed to ISU also.
Darius Stevens #49! I still would like to see him get an offer soon. Maybe after this summers AAU circuit is over.
So Barnes, Stevens and Dykstra and that would be a nice class
If we offer Stevens, than I think that is a very very bad sign for our program. He is ranked as the #49 best player in the midwest. That is only covering 5 states. That puts him barely in the top 500 overall.
I wish him nothing but the best and if he is good enough, I would love for him to be a Cyclone. But I don't want to offer just b/c. We have some bigger players that we are going after, and as of right now only one scholarship to go around
good.
Totally disagree. As of right now we only have one more scholly to give. Why give it to a player that is not even a top 300 player? For every Dakota and Hawaii, there is a Texas and California that produce so many more good players.
Darius would be a last second get. He is Charles Boozer.
Correct me if im wrong, but we have 3 schollies to hand out for 10', maybe 4 if we dont use both for 09' or someone else leaves. So we have 2 more at least after Dykstra. Im not saying we NEED him, there is obviously plenty of talent out there that we can get. But ISU isnt guaranteed to get everyone out of the top 150 every year. Look how many top players we are "in on" every year, and we end up with Squadoush(sp?)
But many people evaluate talent differently. I saw him play as a 15 year old in the front row at Hilton, he looked like he was 18 or 19.
The only way we have 3 schollies to hand out in 2010 is if we don't sign anyone this year (09).
I am just replying to people who think we need to offer him right now. Why would we offer him when we have a great chance in landing one of the best players in the class? And we have decent chances with guys that are considered much better than him.
I am not saying we shouldn't keep an eye out on him. Some players develop later and he could end up being a great player right now. But right now he probably is not one of the coaches top 10 guys they are looking at in the class.
We don't get paid 6 and 7 digit salaries to make decisions on who gets scholarships and who don't. GM has answered all questions I have had regarding his ability to recruit---the man knows what he is doing. Just wish the players wouldn't leave after a year but that is a different story
