Skills camp from Saturday. (Long)
Here's a quick run down of every player I saw there, and my thought: Jemal Farmer 2009 JC 6'5" Wing, Wing Cloud CC Coach Rutter says in reality he is only 6'3". He is really athletic, and a good shooter. He is more of a combo guard than a wing. He will probably pick up an offer soon, but the competition is stiff. He already has a NU offer, and is close to one from LSU. Jerry Evans 2009 6'7" Leuzinger, Los Angeles: A heck of a nice kid, with offers from Washington State, Arizona State, and UC-Davis. His vertical is probably around 38" (standing) He has a pretty good jumpers, but is still raw, and doesn't have great basketball instincts. Ryan Sypkens 2009 6'3" PG Franklin, CA He seemed to force the action a lot early on, but setlled down and made some great passes toward the end of the camp. )He lives about a mile from Xavier Thames, and said he is almost surely going to Washington State.)
I wouldn't be suprised if Ryan gets an offer soon. Sam Dower 2009 6'9" Forward, Osseo, MN I wasn't too impressed with Sam. He is weak, and has trouble finishing, and isn't as good of a three point shooter as I had heard. Antone Byrd 2009 6'3" SG Washington, WI He is ok, but nothing special, a good defender without much of a three point shot. Andrew Bock 6'1"2009 PG California A small kid, with a great handle and offers from almost every mid major in the state of California, he is extremely small, but is a smooth ball handler with great vision. His Jump shot leaves a lot to be desired though, it's a set shot, knuckle ball type. I think he might end up at Stanford. Jordan Dykstra He was only here for a couple of hours, since he had another commitment to go to, but IMO he would be our sixth man right now if he came here. He looked like he is going to be an eventual high 4 star (20-25 range) Chim Kadima He is a great defensive player, but isn't a great scorer, look for him to end up at UW-GB or something like that Marquis Mason '10 6'5" guard An eventual 4 star, he is yet another great player. He is strong, athletic, and a great defender. One of the most impressive players there. Brandon Spearman 6'3" guard A great, hard nosed defensive player, but the competition will be stiff for this player. Anthony Johnson 6'1" : Thanks to D-Rob for his great connections...will end up as one of the best players in the country, a four star already. Anthony Johnson - Basketball Recruiting Tavian Pomlee: He looks to be about 6'6", and is really athletic, but his jumper sure needs a lot of work Chasson Randle 6'1" PG, Rock Island: He either got an offer this weekend,or will soon. He is a great, great player, very athletic. Riley Dearing, 6'3" Wing 2013: More than held his own, as a kid going into 8th grade, guarding College freshman. He is a good shooter, and a great defensive player. He may end up being the best player in his class in the country...it's amazing that a thirteen year old can score 10 points in 24 minutes against kids way older....and do it with ease. He is a great defender too.
I'll post in another thread about the ISU players, etc. -
Re: Skills camp from Saturday. (Long)
Just a question.
How does a 14 year old travel to every Iowa State event that goes on? Be it a skills camp in Ames, or a Tailgate tour stop on the other side of the state? So how old are you really?!? I dont mean any harm, its just hard to believe your 14 yrs old.

As for the skills camp, kg invited me, so my mom took me up. It was a lot of fun too! (Sadly I haven't been to an actual game in awhile, since it is hard for my dad to get off work...I have to settle for TV and Channelsurfing.net)

Re: Skills camp from Saturday. (Long)
Great write-up, thanks for posting the info. Keep up the great work A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -
Re: Skills camp from Saturday. (Long)
I also appreciate the info as well. Great stuff! I dont want you to think im some sort of ***. You pump out a lot stuff thats too good to come from a 14 year old!

Re: Skills camp from Saturday. (Long)
Update:
No one was offered after the directly after the conclusion of the skills camp this afternoon. Jemal Farmer was thought by many to be the MVP of the camp. Attending one more year at his JUCO next year, don't be surprised if we extend an offer his way. Ryan Sypkens is another 'high major' recruit amongst the basketball office who, despite forcing shots numerous times, played outstanding and stirred up a lot more talk throughout the office on Sunday after the conclusion of the camp.
Andrew Bock and Anthony Johnson both had personal meetings/talks with Coach McDermott prior to the end of camp, offers would not surprising one bit in the near future.
The kids were worked hard all day Saturday, and had a relatively easy workout today; consisting of one round of stations and then one 32 minute game, two 16 minute halves, with the camp split into two teams. Lot of soreness, cramping going on today, but the kids had a good time and all seemed to enjoy the tours around campus, the players, and the basketball staff all together.

Re: Skills camp from Saturday. (Long)
Dower...Offer from Iowa...ISU was not impressed.
If offers come, expect...Farmer and Kadima
For those looking for "pipelines" CA, WI, IL(Chi), Mn, IA
Can officially take the title of "project" away from Hamilton...probably won't redshirt, jumper is good to about 15 ft. He eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every two hours.
Eikmeier is good...
DG is flying (under control) for those that want us to push the ball more.
For the first time in two years, I walked into the gym and heard players vocally helping other players.
Met Cyismydog...and his mother -
