In my opinion that does nothing but hurt us.
Harrison Barnes (to himself) "Wow, I'm 6th in the country, that means I should probably go to a team that frequents the NCAA Tournament if I want a shot at the big leagues."
Not necessarily correct thinking but what else do you expect.

I'd expect the confidence of a player such as his ability to see the chance to stamp his mark all-time on the program he's grown up loving. If he likes the players there now, he'll know the truth he can bring us back to the elite eight and beyond.

Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:

With Harrison and Dykstra, plus the core group we will have (if everyone stays) by that time, we'll be back to regular NCAA appearances, maybe more...

Not necessarily correct thinking but what else do you expect. He has to think that with him and Dykstra and other guys (possibly Brackins) that there is no reason we are not at least a sweet 16 team. P

Not necessarily correct thinking but what else do you expect. I don't think it means a thing if he is 1st or 100th. There is no need for anyone to feel the sky is falling since Harrison is receiving so much attention. He will deal with it and make the best decision that works for him - not for all of the analysts out there.
There is still a good chance that he comes to ISU, and I'll believe that until he signs a LOI stating otherwise.

I don’t care… I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it… let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

Puts more pressure on McD to win 20 this year, if he wants to have any momentum. A third year of 15 or less would be a very bad sign. Time is of the essence for the future. The five year plans are yesterday's news. Coaches must win sooner than in the past. Beating fluffs will not provide much momentum. You must be respectable in the conference. Then too, you could be like a Fresno State and come out of 33-27 record and be national champions. The most losses by an NCAA champion. The first NCAA championship in any sport for Fresno. The biggest underdog to ever win an NCAA team event. Better than North carolina state. Panked #79. We want to emulatre that model.

There is a big difference between 1 and 100 maybe not in terms of signing Harrison, but he is on the verge of being a 1 and done player.

His ranking by rivals has no bearing on him being one & done. I mean as compared to two weeks ago.

NBA scouts will have seen him play before he ever gets to college and there will be agents in his ear a year after college. He could average 12 points a game as a freshman and be a one and done. There are a ton of players out there like it

Not necessarily correct thinking but what else do you expect. We know your thinking now. I wonder what Harrison is thinking. . . . Since you and he are separate entities, what we do know is that how you process the world ain't identical to the way that Harrison deals with it.
You're projecting, aren't you? You're worried/fearful that Harrison will shun ISU's offer and go elsewhere. To minimize your disappointment with this possible outcome, you convince yourself that you cannot allow yourself to expect a good ending.
Me, I have no idea what Harrison is thinking. Therefore, I am clueless about what decision he will make eventually (perhaps he hasn't a clue, either, at this point).

Honestly I would rather not hear any more about Barnes until he signs his LOI. I can't help but feel that it will be extremely depressing when he does so.

Scouts will see him plenty if he's good as a freshman no matter his ranking now. Granted, if he was 150 it would be different. I'm talking anyhwere in the top 50.

Barnes is a perfect example of why it's bad to have so much pressure and hype on one recruit. If he goes elsewhere, that's his choice and he has to do what's best for him. If he comes to ISU, people need to realize he probably isn't a 4 year guy, unless he understands the importance of getting his degree.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't die if it doesn't get that one player.
