Re: chris alexander?
I thought I remembered that he was involved in some altercation at a bar in Ames as well. I could have him mixed up with someone else, but I thought this was part of the equation, too.

Re: chris alexander?
Chris "bobble-head" Alexander.
Was good at Indian Hills
...sucked at ISU.

Re: chris alexander?
Speaking of JUCO centers, what ever happened to Earnest Brown who signed with us and then went into the NBA draft instead.

Re: chris alexander?
Ernest has played all over the place. Was briefly with the Heat and I believe the Globetrotters.
As for Chris, I thought he had a baby(ok he didn't have it technically but I digress) and that was a reason he left.
From what I remember of him playing, I thought that had he been able to make it to the next season, he had the potential to produce. Though we had Vroman and Homan, the loss wasn't really felt.

I remember hearing that his baby & the mother were living in Chicago while he was at ISU. He did stay involved with the child and take some responsibility, from what I heard.

Re: chris alexander?
All I remember is he had 1 move on offense which was a big sky hook then was pretty much worthless on defense and the assistant coaches were always yelling at him to move his feet on defense instead of just standing around.

Re: chris alexander?
He can't be that bad.... played in the NBDL. Thats a lot better than a lot of other ISU centers can say.

Re: chris alexander?
He had a ton of hype coming in and was part of what was supposed to be one of the best recruiting classes in the country. Alexander and Jerome Harper (former McD AA) came from Indian Skills and did nothing, Haluska ended up transferring, but Tim Barnes and Jackson Vroman both did pretty well.

Re: chris alexander?
This seemed to be very common with LE recruits; lot's of potential and lots of personal issues. Chris has unlimited potential," Eustachy said after Alexander signed with Iowa State. "He is by far and away the quickest, most athletic big man I have ever had the opportunity to coach." "We are first and foremost an educational institution that values integrity, honesty and treating others with fairness and respect". -ISU President Gregory Geoffroy; circa May 2003. -

Umm, you do remember our big men on the bench right? Nobody. So yeah, the loss was felt. LE was always shorthanded after the magical two seasons. But just wait the LEtards will be along to argue that fact too soon.

Re: chris alexander?
I vaguely remember Chris Alexander. He was one of about seemingly 15 different players under LE who stayed long enough to play in a game or two and have a cup of coffee and then leave for a variety of reasons (granted, maybe a slight exaggeration, but only a slight one).
As bad as we think the attrition rate has been under Greg McDermott (and it hasn't been great) I do think that it pales in comparison to what the program went through those last two-three years under LE.
Oh, and before all the Larry-lovers start screaming at me for being a "Larry hater", those two conference championship seasons we had under him rank as being two of my greatest moments as a sports fan ever. However, the other three seasons were the very definition of mediocrity and not worth remembering at all. Facts are facts, and you can't change them.

Re: chris alexander?
I had music 102 with him when I was a freshman and I remember seeing him lifting weights in the Lied a time or two. Besides of seeing him in a couple of games and hearing about the incident at the bar that is all I remember of Chris.

Re: chris alexander?
Chris had a daughter in Chicago that was hard for him to be away from.
He was in an altercation at a bar, with a football player who's name escapes me. This was not the reason he left.
I do believe Chris would have added a lot of depth behind Jax and Homan the year we went to the NIT Final Four. Another big never hurt anyone.
