yes - played for us a short time. I believe he came in from Indian Hills CC. He was over 7'. I'm not sure he made a full season as he either had trouble with grades or just plain trouble. Either way he has been playing overseas I think.

Re: chris alexander?

Alexander played roughly 9 games (first semester only) one season. Big stiff. Had one good game, against Drake IIRC.

He was listed at 7 feet but about one foot of that was his neck.

Too bad there was nothing above it.

He may have improved to make the Dakota team. Maybe his wingspan is large if his neck is a foot long.

Always shot a hook shot too. Don't remember how often it went in.

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.

No, I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm back in Des Moines but I don't feel like changing my username.

Re: chris alexander?

If I remember correctly, I think Chris had some personal problems that distracted him for a while. I didn't hear anything of grades at the time but it could have been a factor as well.

Chris used to chat with us on the most popular (at the time) Cyclone board (I don't think CF had been built yet) and seemed to be a very nice fellow. He seemed to be genuinely concerned that he wasn't living up to expectations. I think he really hated leaving ISU.

I wished him well then and still do now.

Re: chris alexander?

I'm not sure if I ever really knew why he left, but I can't say I remember hearing anything bad about him, at least not criminal activity or anything. He seemed like a good enough guy, one day he just wasn't there anymore.

Haven't there been a few troublesome players that have come out of Indian Hills? Maybe that just gives it a bad reputation and in people like Chris' case everyone just assumes the worst when he's gone. I could be way off base though.

Started only one game in his ISU career and had about 25 and 10.

Chris could play, he was long and athletic. He had some personel issues that made it hard for him to stay. He made it past Christmas and I believe he even played against KU. Didn't go too well as I recall, Collison may have out matched him.

Re: chris alexander?

Right after Eustachy left, a member of the local media (used to cover sports, does political/cultural stuff now - so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out who I'm talking about) told me that Chris was bipolar, and that part of his problems at ISU was that he either wasn't diagnosed yet or that he wasn't taking his meds at the time. It sounds like he was trying hard to make it at ISU, but his mind kept betraying him.

He always seemed like he had potential for greatness, and it's too bad that he left ISU before he got everything together. I hope he finds a way to the NBA through the D-league.
