K-State Adds Transfer

Curtis Kelly from UConn will transfer to K-State.

He was a top 35 player in the country coming out of HS. Didn't have a great season at UConn, but Frank Martin seems to be excited. Not a bad addition at this point in the process.

So what is the draw for him to go to KSU? Play time? Why leave UConn for Manhattan, KS? Is he from the area?

He is from NYC, so I would assume playing time is his main reason for transfering. He was averaging 2.2 ppg in his two seasons at UConn.

Delontae hill is the draw. This is an old AAU connection. Hill can recruit but for how much longer? He has connections but in AAU ball connections dry up pretty quick. Ask TJ.

The hope is to use your AAU connections to build a winning program that will then help you land players based on the program you are with. If that doesn't happen things can become very difficult in a hurry.

If you get in with good coaches and programs those relationships can last a long time thought.

The poster could have ment that since TJ knows the AAU circut so well he would have first hand knowledge of the changing landscape.

I should have stated that different. TJ knows how you have to keep AAU connections up. Also to be quite honest we have gotten really nobody from his AAU connections and more from his high school connections.

We got Mike Taylor from his Junior college connections.
