2009 recruiting-updates and overview
All of Iowa State's original target's have decided to commit to another college or look elsewhere. As of right now, from what i understand, there are basically 4 main targets:
1. Jemal Farmer: Wing, Cloud CC: A gifted athlete and shooter, Jemal should be in town tomorrow for an unofficial visit. Jemal is a freakishly athletic player, who threw down a crazy dunk at the Skills camp, and jumps center for his Juco team in one of the most competitive Junior College leagues in the country. He actully played more of the 4 in high school, but has blossomed on the perimeter at Juco. IMO, Jemal will commit to ISU soon
ISU's chances with Jemal: 1/2
2. Darius Smith PG, Illinois Warriors AAU Scout.com: Darius Smith Profile Darius Smith Profile - Basketball Recruiting ESPN - Darius Smith Rankings, Grade, News, Stats - College Basketball Recruiting 2009 A big time scorer, athlete, passer, and defender, ISU has begun pursuing him very hard in the recent weeks. Rated #80 in the Rivals 150, Darius is being recruited primarily by Coach Robinson.
ISU's Odds at Darius: Honestly, I have no idea
3. Ryan Sypkens: The other prospect that ISU is taking a long look at at the point. Ryan is a good athlete, and penetrator. He has shot the ball extremely well and may get an offer, depending on a few other player's decisions.
Odds: Probably ISU's if they offer, watch out for Stanford though.
4. Unkown Juco player: Recently brought to light by kg-cyclone as a big time player, who may only have 1 year to play, but can appeal for a second. I don't know who he is, so I'm not going to speculate on this anymore
ISU originally intended to use only one scholarship for their 2009 recruiting class, but I feel that now they will attempt to sign two players. I firmly believe Jemal will be a Cyclone, so that means the Cyclones will probably look for a PG for the other scholarhsip. That may be filled by the Juco, and the Cyclones would love for Darius Smith to become a Cyclone too.
Here's a list of other guys I know ISU is recruiting, and their chances.
Sam Dower: Will possibly be a 4-star recruit, but didn't look good at ISU camp, probably won't get an offer. IMO, he's going to be a Hoosier.
Tony Freeland: ISU has begun to recruit him recently. Again, no idea where he is leaning
David Brown, SF Rockton Illinois: ISU has been recruiting him a little, but will probably be a Uconn huskie
Brad Reese: He will probably end up at Kentucky or Texas Tech next year.
Andrew Bock, PG, California: Doesn't have a Big 12 player's size or shooting ability, probably mid-Major bound
Rodney Williams Jr: A gopher, almost surely.
There are several more players, these are only some of them. 2009 is looking to be another solid recruiting class, the staff has been doing a great job, and working their tail's off. Daniyal Robinson has been a pleasant suprise, a great worker with huge connections. Stay positive about ISU basketball!
Just wanted to say: If you see Jemal this weekend, make sure to make our school look good. -

If we sign two 2009 recruits, as of this moment, then, how many scholarships will be available for 2010 recruits?
Thanks.

Thanks for posting a good summary!
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -

Thanks. After JD, then we would have none...but that can change.

Re: 2009 recruiting-updates and overview
If we get 2 for the 2009 season than we will have zero for the 2010 left. Unless coach knows of somebody leaving, or plans on taking someones scholarship away, there is no way we sign 2 players in 2009.

Thanks for the information. The basketball info on this site is second to none ;)

Re: 2009 recruiting-updates and overview
We won't sign two for '09 due to some huge prospects for '10 (HB mostly). That could change, but isn't likely to at this point.

I'll have my 2010 outlook out some time in the near future.

Re: 2009 recruiting-updates and overview
have you ever got caught outside In a strong rainfall? Yes or NO. If it"s yes, then you might half felt the pane of hard(tought) rain on you head. If it hurt"s then it"s tough. Yes or no. Okay I'm right and you know it.
So alothough you attempt"ed to say you didn"t understnad, now you do. Fair enough? -

Re: 2009 recruiting-updates and overview
It would be a big mistake if the coaches took 2 for the 2009 season w/o knowing for sure if somebody was leaving. Just like I think it was a big mistake to sign 7 this past year. It puts a limit on who we can go after the next couple years and we get stuck getting left overs when a player leaves the program

Translation: someone else is leaving.
