Jemal Farmer article from Trib

Re: Jemal Farmer article from Trib
He'd be a two to play guy, correct?
He certainly wasn't one of our top targets off the bat, and his offer sheet is less than impressive. Just gotta hope he's the right fit.

Re: Jemal Farmer article from Trib
Illinois State had a pretty good team last season, and Arkansas made it to the 2nd round in the tournament.
I don't know if I would call us "beggars", but you know how the saying goes...

Speaking of Illinois state. Ocyrus eldridge is a beast and he is a crazy dunker

Re: Jemal Farmer article from Trib
Unless you're a top tier program, you rarely get only your first targets. Farmer is a great prospect and would help out quite a bit. I don't think the fear of not getting our first choice guys is really as warranted as of late as so many teams are competing for the same guys. Until we start winning, it's going to be extremely hard to get first choice guys just out of some promise of future success.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -
Re: Jemal Farmer article from Trib
judging from that article, if Farmer comes it sounds we could stop worrying about Brackins leaving.

The trip had to be cancelled this weekend, but he will be here during football season for an official.

If he's so top tier, why are we going up against Loyola of Chicago and UW-GB for him?
I'm not trying to be snarky, but I am trying to be realistic. Yes, I know we have a history of getting lucky on under-recruited guys, but you can't build a program on midlevel JUCOs.

1. Almost all programs recruit Juco's as spring signees. Jemal would have a lot more interest if he waited to make his decision until after his sophomore year.
2. He also has an offer from Nebraska, and is close from Arkansas. I don't know why he hasn't been listing the Nebraska offer. LSU is also interested. (or were, at least.)

Again, this is nothing against Farmer, I'll pull for heck like him if he commits, but when you've got one open scholly for a year, and it's going to go to a JUCO, it needs to be a quick fix.
He may very well explode onto the scene, but, again, you can't paint this as an ideal situation for us, or even near-ideal.
