ISU MBB Commitment - Gillstrap

Hi guys,
ISU basketball landed a commitment today:
Mid-Iowa Newspapers - Cyclone basketball gets verbal recruit

I'll have more later in the day.

Gillstrap was being recruited pretty hard by ISU as a diamond in the rough type player similar to WJ a few years back. As was eluded to over the past week by a few members here, he has some knee problems that he's getting over and could be a huge addition to a team that could really use his size and shooting ability. A great talent that not many have heard of, and that was as planned:wink:

The staff is going to try and get him another year with an appeal. This becomes important because it will help bridge a gap(1year) if one of our current guys has to hang up the sneakers.

Hopefully he works out, but honestly, I'm less than thrilled that we spent a scholarship on a player with knee issues. It seems like a pretty big risk to take IMO.

So does this mean that an offer for Farmer is off the table?

This is killing me... My guess is Christopherson has some lingering affects from HIS leg problem, or maybe DG?

Can he shoot like Mike Taylor?

It wouldn't be a player this year would it? He is an '09 player so he wouldn't be ready to play this season.

Gillstrap does not have knee issues...with all of my hinting there maybe some confusion...A current player has knee issues.
