Ran into this today while looking around for some stuff. Gotta love how some of their fans agree the double foul call was bogus while others don't see how that affected the game at all.
Not meaning to bring up history from 8 years ago but just thought this was an interesting thread and how much the stories and opinions vary from our 2 fan bases. Larry getting tossed from the game is another issue in the game we don't see eye to on either and I think they forgot how Izzo had been T'd up once already that game too and admitted after the game he probably would have got tossed from the game too has some of the calls we didn't like had happened to MSU. Both coaches were walking on thin ice with the refs towards the end of the game because of some of the poor officiating that was going for/against both sides.
Dude whats up with Juice webpage? The RAG really knows how to over-clutter a website
Yeah they switched to some new format where it's supposed to get more views for the Juice stuff or something. I like the new system to use for creating entries and commenting and such much better than the old one but I think the site design isn't as good and it's harder to sort through it now. There are some new features with the blog system that I am going to like once the season rolls around, will be a lot easier to manage and post photos it looks like.
Paul Shirley wasn't the only one who cried. I may have done a little crying myself after I got done throwing everything I could pick up.
To make it worse, the DMR published a series of excerpts from sports pages across the country calling the officiating a "travesty". Except for the Detroit paper of course.
That was a homer game to the worst degree and denied Cyclone fans like all of us a rare shot at ultimate glory. It burns my.... behind to this very day. It may even by my epithat - "we were SCREWED".
For the record - "I was a 40 year old man" when that happened. ala Gundy. I had two teenage kids at home. And to this day, I can't get over it. It was truly a travesty and maybe the only chance at ultimate glory I'll ever have as a Cyclone fan. But I still keep believing and hoping.

ISU fans are the greatest in the world. All they ask for is hope and the belief that we have a chance to win every time we step on the field - Johnny Majors (paraphrased)
Stupid MSU fans. They make a lot of assumptions there. First off, ISU should NOT have been playing in Detroit. They were the consensus top 2 seed (and deserved a 1). Why put them in the top 1 seed's regional? Makes no sense.
One idiot even implied that ISU wasn't talented. Wrong. And they called ISU a ho-hum university? What does that make MSU?? They think that they are some national power. I hate to break it to them, but they haven't been that for about 4 years now.
And to say that MSU would have won that game at Hilton??? Lay off the drugs, man. ISU would have won by double digits.
The block charge... worst call in Iowa State history. Was a 5 point swing there. ISU wins the national title if the correct call was made.
I'd put the made 3 point basket by KU between foul shots that the refs let stand as the worst call we've been on the wrong end of. To this day I am still baffled how you can score 3 points between the middle of a 2 shot foul and let it stand. The double foul call and Seneca's non-touchdown against FSU rank up there too but that screwjob in the KU game is going to be a tough one to ever top.
I'm not trying to dwel on the past here, just thought it was interesting to see the other sides take on this name nearly 7 years after it happened and how the stories are so different of how all that went down. It's all in the eye of the beholder and if you read the posts on the site enough you'll know we have plenty of crazy sounding folks of our own right here that don't even realize it.
