I think Cory was a little small for the type of player GMac would have liked him to play. I agree I think he need to rebound better in the half court. In an open and down type of game he might have been able to use his athleticism to get a loose ball and score in transition more then he was able to do in a half court setting.

Thanks for the update on Cory. His hustle was fun to watch and I appreciate the fact that he left with a lot of class.

My theory on why Cory didn't play a whole lot was that he didn't have as firm a grasp on the positions he needed to be in on offense or defense.

No doubt that he had a late sophomore slump, but I don't think he needed to leave to be successful. His diminished stats had much more to do with a lack of confidence in his shot rather than a lack of opportunity. He would have continued to get a lot of minutes if he stayed at ISU and probably would have been moved to PG his junior year (after Blalock and Stinson left). That's obviously his natural position. I am glad he's having success at St. Joseph's. That redshirt year probably helped in his case.

It goes back to being a bad fit for a style of play, Rahshon Clark was the same way. An uptempo, guard oriented system would have played to his strengths, fill the lanes, and set shooting, passing and creating, like you see in pick-up games.

I am not sure about his rebounding, though, because he had to play out of position. And nobody, except Rahshon Clark, on this past year's team was what I would consider a good rebounder.

I think the biggest problem was that CJ was an undersized power forward, and he needed a big bruising center to complement him.
