It depends on your definition of good.

I think our schedule is conducive to producing more wins than last year. How many more remains to be seen, but we could win 20 games and still not be really very good.

However, the last time I can remember that sort of confidence-building schedule was the Willoughby-led team of nobodies that just sort of "got used to winning" early in the season against cupcakes, and decided to keep doing just that.

I'm not saying that's going to happen again, but it would sure be nice. I'm totally in the mood for an overachieving team.

I'm setting my sights a bit lower than the defending NCAA champs... We've got a very young, largely inexperienced team. I'd be happy beating Colorado, TT, and some other in-conference teams at home. I'd be REALLY happy with more than one or two road wins in-conference.

Looks like WBB is the way to go this fall.

We lost three starters so it is just replacement going on this year in MBB.

Next year, Bo Williams may be The Answer in MFB.

We may win NCAA wrestling, Clone volleyball is on the upswing, maybe golfing and soccer also. Lots of Clone teams on the move besides the Big Two.

I think our basketball team will be better this year than last. But relative to the rest of the Big 12, we haven't made the big jump yet. If this incoming class has the talent (tough to know until we see them play), 2010 looks to be the year we move up the B12 pecking order.

While I don't think we are going to be world beaters this year by any means, I am totally excited to see this team.

Storylines for me:

-Can and will Lucca live up to the hype? If he is at all close to his "legend" before even stepping on the court, he will be an instant fan favorite and potential Cyclone great.

-Will Brackins be able to "be the man"? He will be looked to as the leader of this team. Is he ready? Is he strong enough to bang in the Big 12, and get some sorely needed rebounds for this team?

-Can we shoot the ball up to our potential? I think we have some shooters that can be scary-good, but need to be placed in positions to be successful. I think this starts with the inside game, and that worries me. Having a consistent threat from the outside, especially with the extended 3-point line, will be key.

-Who runs the team? Garrett improved immensely towards the end of the season. Buckley oozes steadiness from what I've seen and heard. We need a floor general that gets people the ball wherever their strength is.

-What new guy(s) step up? We don't need much more than defense and rebounding from them...who provides the toughness? My bet is on Pomlee.

-I'm sure there's much more, but this is getting long...

I'm excited for the season!

I just want to start to see our team develop some sort of identity. I feel like I still don't know what type of team McDermott envisions for the future. I've watched way too many games of us being a physically weaker team AND looking to slow down the tempo. If we're going to compete in the Big XII at the pace we have played at the last couple years, we need to bulk up and play a lot tougher. Or else, we need to have the players that can get out in the open court and hit the open shot.

I have been a fan of ISU to long to be considered a fair weather fan. I stuck through the Walden and Cryner year and this is probably the worst. We tasted success with Tim Floyd and Larry E and since then it's been downhill with the exception of beating Minny in the tourny.

The football team went to three straight bowl games and now we don't look like we will make a bowl game anytime soon. WE can't even compete with Baylor.

I just want to win. If that is a fair weather fan then yes I am. I have rooted for losers long enough.

While it's not easy to resurrect a program, I am heartened that one special player can turn around a program's fortunes pretty quickly.

While everyone's minds are jumping to the initials "HB", I am saying that it might be him, or it might be someone already in the program. You just never know when someone rises up, and it just "clicks".

You must be "old school". I was at ISU in the mid 80s and never saw a KU team beat ISU in Hilton...not even the 1988 Danny and the Miracles team.

I am 34 years old and I still expect to beat KU everytime they walk into our house. I just do. I used to pencil the KU game at Hilton into the victory column every year. It was a no brainer.

I was there for the infamous KU vs. ISU game when they put the flyers on everyones chairs saying BEAT KU. "Hey Toto your not in Kansas anymore. Your in Hilton." It was sweet until everyone started making paper airplanes out of them and tossing them to the court.
