Re: Brackins: no more 3's!!!
Ruined his season how? In the fans eyes? Sure - because suddenly many expected that to be the norm, rather than the exception.
Craig was already struggling to finish inside before that game - which is one of his problems, IMO. And his defense, well - no point in going there for right now.
I'm looking forward to watching a more mature, well-rounded Brackins this year.

It's called the "Jared Homan Syndrome". Once you make one 3-pointer, you suddenly become a 3-point specialist...I agree that Brackins caught a touch of that last season...

Re: Brackins: no more 3's!!!
I think it distracted him from working on his post game. This year he is basically Jiri for us in the paint. Our goto guy and maybe now and then you sneak in a 3 but you can't be looking for that shot every time down the court when we have no other established options in the paint.

Realize that last year Jiri also spent a lot of time in the paint therefore giving Brackins more of an opportunity to shoot the 3. I think he is our post guy this year and JVB and others will be the ones stepping outside while he goes to work down low.

Horace Grant..?.. way to end the article... an average 3rd-option player..

Re: Brackins: no more 3's!!!
You want honesty? Craig's role should eb very similar to what Marcus Fizer's was as a junior. Not a center, but decidedly the low post force. however, if you think that Marcus didn't take the occasional outside shot, didn't need to in the flow of the game, then you're crazy. And Marcus didn't gave the touch that Craig does--CB just let his mechanics--and confidence--get messed up.
So hey, if as the season progresses, if in the flow of the game a defender backs off, expecting Craig to take it to the hole, and CB buries a three in his face, 'm fine with that. hat just means that the next time a defender won't sag off--and CB can bust past him, taking the rock to the hole, for the jam and the foul.
Think Fizer posterizing all-American seven-footer Chris Mihm.
It's part of the game. Shoot the three as it comes to him--not forcing it up, as first and only option.

After the Baylor game, it seemed that several times he was looking for the 3 first when it should have been the other way around. I don't know why big guys like to shoot 3s so much, maybe because it's just something they don't get to do very often?

Re: Brackins: no more 3's!!!
Fizer was much better getting the ball face up about 15 feet out then he was with his back to the basket.

That's actually the Jiri Hubalek syndrome... I remember a press conference prior to Vegas last year where Jiri was like
"coach yells at me when I shoot from there. I'm 50% now, so I'm going to keep looking for that shot."
You should've seen Mac's face when he said that as he was sitting right next to him!

Re: Brackins: no more 3's!!!
Lol at Horace Grant... What's up with the Bulls reference anyways?
I'd just take a guy that can get 15-20 points, 10-15 boards, and 1-2 blocks a game. Sounds like a lot, but if you want to get to the NBA or be a good Big XII forward, it'll take that.

Re: Brackins: no more 3's!!!
If Brackens is getting good at shooting 3 pointers I have no problem with him drilling them. Just because he is tall does not mean he can't make 3's. How awesome would it be if he could start hitting them consistantly. He would be impossible to guard. Inside outside game by himself.
I get sick and tired of people who want to take away part of his game because he is tall. Glad you guy did not coach Dirk Nowitski. (SP?)
