    Re: Cyclone Alley Practice Watch

Anyone know if its possible (or compliance-friendly) for cyclone alley to attend an ames high game this winter and root for HB?

Can't be too hard to round up 20-30 alley members for a mini trip to ames high early on a friday night?

If you need some old folks, send us a PM. Not sure, but we might be good for one.

    Re: Cyclone Alley Practice Watch

I'm definitely down for going to some games too, so make sure someone posts something on here so we know about them. Cyclone Alley was going to send out emails and have people go watch HB play and cheer for him, but it got rejected by the athletic department since CA is a university organization. No surprise there I suppose. Doesn't mean we can't go on our own. I'm definitely going to the Urbandale @ Ames game since I went to Urbandale. Should be a great game because both teams will be pretty good. It's on December 2nd I think.

From what I saw from the practice, Brackins was completely solid. I didn't seem him miss a single shot during the game situations they were doing. He nailed a 3, made a good perimeter spin move to drive to the basket and hit a turn around hook shot. He looks a lot skinnier, but more in shape. Every time he got the ball he put it in with ease. He definitely looks a lot quicker on the perimeter.

Hamilton impressed me a lot too. He had 3 or 4 trips down in a row where he scored. He was being guarded by a smaller Pomlee, but he still looked good. I'd like to see him starting later in the season.

DG probably looked like the most improved from what I saw. Definitely bigger and more experienced. He's incredibly quick... which we already knew. He had a few nice drives. Definitely gonna help us out a lot this year.

Thompson looked better on offense. He got a nice dish from Brackins and pulled off a nice spin post move, which I hadn't seen from him before. Still no way to tell how he'll do in the games since we're playing ourselves.

The whole team looked like a much better shooting team than last year. That was the one thing I noticed more than anything else. We were unconscious. Maybe it was just a good practice, maybe we really can shoot that well. We'll see. Haluska, Petey, and Scott C., all looked like really good shooters. Keep in mind that Wes and Lucca didn't even practice, since they're supposed to be two of our better shooters. Hopefully we can shoot that well come game time.

Buckley looked pretty good. It was hard to tell for sure, because the teams for most of the time I was there were
Cardinal: Brackins, DG, Petey, Haluska, Hamilton, AT
Gold: Scott C, Buckley, Mann, Pomlee, Vanderbeken, Boozer

I think Buckley will be a good point guard when he's surrounded by more experienced players.

Out of the three freshman, I think Mann is redshirted. Justin is talented, and LA had a few nice moves. Mann didn't do much.

Also, VDB looked somewhat out of shape. Coach McD was having him, Mann, and Pomlee run lines near the end of practice and VDB was far behind the other two.

That's all I have for now. I'm definitely more excited about the season after seeing the team play. Can't wait for Saturday.

I think our starters at first are
    1 - DG
    2 - Petey
    3 - Haluska
    4 - Brackins
    5 - AT

I'd eventually like to see them be
    1 - Buckley
    2 - DG
    3 - Lucca
    4 - Brackins
    5 - Hamilton

with petey, haluska, AT, and pomlee also getting a lot of minutes, maybe wes too... I haven't seem him play

Oh the Brandon ******* Rush game. Man I thought we had that one with Dodie hit the 3 to tie it, place erupted. Then Brandon Rush decided to start playing.

Nah Bill Self just realised Taylor was our only chance and so he finally put his best defender on him.

    Re: Cyclone Alley Practice Watch

I got the e-mail about this, but due to 4 tests this week and work conflicts, I could not make it. I really wanted to go too...

Someone in CA should check to make sure the e-mail list is correctly set up if multiple people are reporting not seeing it.
