Re: Gilstrap
I would like to see what is FG% is in those games to.., But I do like that he can score!

Re: Gilstrap

Re: Gilstrap
Hopefully he can score like that against Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, etc...

Re: Gilstrap
What is most impressive is he scored 24 last game and the final score was 60-58. At first when I saw him averaging 23 a game I figured it was a JUCO that put up 90 points a game, but it looks like they slow it down and play some D.

Re: Gilstrap
hes a piece to the puzzle that we really dont have this season with wesley leaving.
to me the McD offense works best when you have these checklist of items
1. A big man who can command a double team... you really only need 1 scoring big (Brackins)
2. 3-5 guys who can knock down open 3's (Eik, JVB, Lucca, Haluska, Petey)
3. A point guard that doesnt turn the ball over, and can penetrate and distribute... not necassarily a scorer (DG.. this season not last year)
4. One really athletic forward that can attack the rim, create his own shot (would have been wes, but no one can do that for us)
...gilstrap addresses this next season, then in the 2010 class we either have HB coming in, or hopefully our backup plan pulls through if HB goes elsewhere

I think you just wrote out every basketball coach's Christmas wish list right there.

Re: Gilstrap
As soon as they get back in town (Panama City), I plan on going to some games. I've been a season ticket holder in Ames for the past several years and haven't missed many games at Hilton (before I moved) so I think I can give a pretty good report.

1. Grant Stout and Eric Coleman... good inside scorers
2. Jacobson and a lot of other whos job was to shoot
3. Brooks McKowen... hardly ever scored, but didnt turn it over and had tons of assists
4. never really had one (same with us)
they dont have to be super stars, just solid guys

Hope you meant the comment more along the line that they didn't go far enough and would agree with you on that.

Re: Gilstrap
It would be fun to average 5 losses a year, or even less. Not sure less is really possible in basketball, but you know, it would be fun!
