Bending recruiting rules

All this talk about Colvin, HB, etc. and then I read this article:

ESPN - O'Neil: Recruiting rules result in many shades of gray

Of course, Gillespe is the highlight of the coaches who they deam blur the recruiting lines....

Makes you wonder when this system is going to implode on itself, or perhaps it never will. I've often wondered how so many players from poorer families can afford to travel all-around for unofficial visits and elite camps.

After reading that article I realize that the key to getting HB is having ISU hire his mother.

The power of the $ has taken over, we all new it but this article just put it into fact finding words. Man, it's just like politics!!:no:

This makes me sick. I guess you gonna have to do whatever it takes to get top 5 ranked players. I hope G-Mac is not really part of walking the "fine line".

We need to hire all of HB's relatives, just like we hired Blalock's mother! (she was really nice though...)

I would guess the price tags in that article are way off...

Yeah $4800 to Orton's father and $1900 to his step brother seem pretty low for top talent. I am sure those are the official book numbers and there are extra kick backs/bonus etc that make it much more lucrative.

Semi-pro sports disguised as college athletics.

Articles like these remind me why I have trouble enjoying college basketball like I used to.

Dont worry I'm sure there was another 20 grr in the trunk of the rental cars at each of his speaking engagements.

That article makes me happy Harrison is from Ames. Coach Downs is a classy guy and unlike these other coaches we dont have to worry about him using a player as his ticket to a better job and better life.

Unless you know how Will Blalock's mom got a job at Iowa State, have seen her resume, or now her work experience you probably shouldn't throw her under the bus like that.
