    Congrats on Colvin...

He is a player that I really wanted for Iowa... such is life. I finally got my Iowa State BB scholarship web page updated... sorry for the delay. I'm just going to assume the Gilstrap will not be around for year #2, until there is credible news to the contrary. thanks!

Doesn't matter if they ever had a shot or not (they were on Colvin's early list), Iowa desperately needs a good point guard--and isn't getting one.

Ya think that Lickliter might figure out that he needs something besides a bunch of wing players some day?

Thanks, cyberhawki, for being a good sport--and for keeping that scholly chart updated.

Thanks! This stuff is very helpful. I would hope a Fanatic would be equally inclined to share this type of objective info on a Hawk site. I was inclined to even check out the Iowa situation!!! What's the matter with me? Caring about Hawkeye's situation? Must be my soft spot for Lick. I am secretly rooting for his success, just to spite Alford, and root for all those Mid-major upstart coaches.

What is wrong with having all Wing Men in the BTen?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

This is big Ten basketball, not football. You actually have to have an athletic, balanced, well rounded team. Guess which one of those Lickliter has?

I certainly think that Iowa needs a PG... but we saw classic Lickliter ball last night at the Citadel... 11 assist out of the two guard spot, 6 for Gatens and 5 for Kelly. 3 from PG Peterson... I'm just worried about being able to bring the ball up the court. I'm not worried about needing a PG to run the offense.

Why don't you root for all those mid-major upstart coaches except for Lickliter? There's plenty of them out there. Also, why would you want to spite Alford? I hope he wins a whole bunch of conference titles and NCAA games at NM to spite the Iowa fanbase, that would be great.

Thanks, cyberhawki! Just make sure you leave a really big spot open on your chart for Harrison Barnes at ISU.

I still root against the Hawks, but it's much harder to hate Lickliter than Alford, and Lick seems to recruit quality kids, like GMAC.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why would Gilstrap be a one and done player for ISU

There's the problem right there...those stats are hardly going to be representative of Big Ten play.

He is a JUCO that had a leg injury and missed time. I believe he's petitioning the NCAA for an extra year because of this, but we all know our luck with the NCAA.

I would also be worried about defending teams with a great PG. Jermain Davis would probably fit the bill for that end of the floor. But then he's not going to help as much on the offensive end.

I think Iowa's pressing recruiting need is a big guy. Lick has a different style though.

Maybe you aren't worried now, but you will likely be worried later. We tried not having a classic point guard a few times. One was with Jake Sullivan. His game suffered and the team suffered when he was forced to play out of position. Also, last year with Petey, we struggled as he was not a natural point guard. With good shooters, you can alliviate some of the problems (neither the Sullivan teams or the team last year had really good shooters), but in order to become a good team, you do need a true point guard.
