I'm not pinning the loss on Craig solely but team leaders have to play smarter than that. DG was a leader out there last night, was very proud of his play and how he single handedly kept the team in it. Craig was almost non-existant on offense for most of the game and he has to be that guy when shots aren't falling that you can count on him to make something happen when you get him the ball in the paint. Actually, John and Eric trying to convince us that it was a cheap foul ****** me off the most. Not relevant as far as I'm concerned. You can't foul a guy if you aren't near him. Craig will learn from this but I thought he would have learned it on somebody else's time...about 10 years ago.

It was a cheap bump of a foul that wouldn't be called in the Big 12. However, it was definitely going to be called in Hawaii. He shouldn't have been anywhere near him in the first place.

Infact, I don't even think there was a foul. I watched it again on youtube this morning and got ****** off all over again. You are right however, it really doesn't matter. Hopefully Craig and the whole team learnes from this.

Re: What a heartbreaker!!!!
Cheap or not it was still a foul and you can't expect to get those calls 100% of the time. All Craig needed to do was make it tough to get off a good shoot

I think what CB was trying to do was to reach in and poke the ball away; getting a hand on it, starting the clock, which would run out before they could get a shot.
Good intentions, poor execution. He should have been way off his man in that situation.

Wow, what a WEAK CALL that was. -
Re: What a heartbreaker!!!!
Still, no need to be near the guy. Best they could do was a desperate three.
Also, "Rick" McDermott???? Really? That's like their program that said Idaho State.

He has to know how that is going to play out.

Re: What a heartbreaker!!!!
Can anybody give a rundown of Brackins' foul at the end of the game?
Was it intentional? Did he just brainfart and think we were down? Was it an obvious foul?
(sorry, I didn't see this addresses up thread. thanks for the YouTube!)

Re: What a heartbreaker!!!!
That was a horrible horrible call. From the closeup replay on the clip you can see that Brackins never touched him. At the end of the game the refs HAVE to keep the whistle in their pocket. They decided the game and that's just wrong.
(not that we weren't at fault at all, we shouldn't have been in that position).

However, it's our fault we even let them back in the game. We couldn't get a stop at the end. I really hope we can learn from this. Not just what happened at the end of the game, but a lot of different situations during the game.
There were also a lot of good things we can take from the game. DG played great. It's nice to have somebody that's able to get to the hoop when we are shooting poorly. I think he will end up being a very good guard. Hamilton had a good game, some confidence could really go a long way with him. I also thought the coaching staff did a good job of switching to zone. I'm not a big fan of zone defense but it really seemed to be the right move and got us right back into the game.
I didn't like that we didn't shoot the ball well tonight but I liked the fact that we took good, open shots. Most nights they will fall.
