I agree, but I thought it was worth discussion. Guess i don't see the whole picture since I'm only 22.
I'm only 23, but I remember hearing Pete call some pure heartbreak moments. Two of them, I had been sent to my room for swearing and throwing stuff at the tv, so I had to turn my radio on in my bedroom. The other was on ESPN, and we lived out in the country w/no dish. They would be in chronological order: 1) UCLA taking it coast to coast in the final seconds of the Sweet 16 in 97 (?) (I was in middle school i think). 2) Hampton. Enough said. 3) Yelk's "miss" at the Independence Bowl. All pre-Walters, all gut wrenchers. It's the Cyclone way.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
I don't think John Walters is the cause, but I definitely think there is some kind of curse, spell, hex or something on ISU athletics. There just has to be.....
Some ISU fan or athlete must have done something really terrible a long time ago and we've been paying for it ever since......
Maybe Hilton and JTS were built on ancient Indian burial grounds....who knows?
2 possibilities. 1. Donald Kaul (from the Liberal Rag) put a curse on us for not immediately naming the stadium after Jack Trice. (Students were in favor but Lou McCollough and some fat cats wouldn't hear of it). 2. Both are located next to Squaw Creek, and we know Native Americans do not like the term "Squaw".
