Chris Colvin
In regards to Colvin's commit, I have heard that Coach Robinson was very good friends with his family and was shopping Chris as a way to get himself a job. This was why he was brought to ISU and this had been a done deal for sometime.
I believe it was Colvin's uncle who Robinson knew from his time in Rock Island.
Has anyone heard anything along these lines?

Re: Chris Colvin
He does know his family in Rock Island but I highly doubt we brought him on because he knew a good basketball player's uncle. He was our contact on a lot of guys we were looking at as well. I don't think there's anything to it.

I heard he was brought on because he knew the plane could take off if it was on a treadmill with minimal friction.

Re: Chris Colvin
We were on the outside looking in for along time...Couldn't get Darius Smith to visit...he wanted to go to Minnesota. Minnesota filled that scholly...Darius came crawling back to us, but by that time we had made signicant progress with Colvin.

Re: Chris Colvin
I thought that he was brought in because Jean left and we needed another assistant coach who could be both a coach and a recruiter.
I may be wrong though, he may be acting as a clone cone tester for all I know.

Thanks, I like the hire and I like the fact that we are going to recruit Chicago and IL hard, there are a ton of good players there. I was just seeing if the rumor had any legs to it.

Re: Chris Colvin
Colvin's uncle was Coach Rob's coach in Rock Island maybe 10-15 years ago. So now Coach Rob uses this connection to land himself a good job? What kind of fantasy world do you live in?

It happens all of the time. There is nothing wrong with it at all, I was just seeing if anyone heard the same thing.

Re: Chris Colvin
Maybe if he was Michael Beasley or equivalent...but not for the #92 payer in his class.
Robinson was brought in because of his recruiting ties to the Chicago area, Colvin is a product of those connections!

Re: Chris Colvin
Yeah I like the Illinois recruiting we are now doing. Bradley Braves have taken a lot of kids from that area and have made themselves a good program with those kids. If we can compete with Illinois for some of those kids it would be awesome. For some reason Iowa has been skipping over illinois and going straight to Indiana. I do realize there alst 2 coaches are Indiana guys but you have to compete with Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, and in Iowa's case Valpo. That makes no sense with Illinois and Southern Illinois the only two in Illinois.
