Good to hear--hopefully we find out for sure soon. Any idea as to when he wants to decide?

Re: Kyle Kelm is.....
Hopefully the nut-job fans that get outraged after every loss will stay patient til about the 2011 season,we could be damn good.
But I wouldnt mind if those same nut jobs jumped ship and went somewhere else. -
Re: Kyle Kelm is.....
If Chim Kadima gets ranked in the top 150, with the addition of HB, we would have all 4 kids in the '10 class that are ranked in the top 150. Gotta believe that would be a top 20 class.

Re: Kyle Kelm is.....
By my count we are at the limit of 13 scholarships right now:
Sr.: Haluska, Peterson, Thompson
Jr.: Vanderbeken
So.: Staiger, Garrett, Brackins, Boozer
Fr.: Buckley, Eikmeier, Hamilton, Mann, Pomlee
We lose 3 seniors this year and have two incoming committs, Colvin & Gilstrap. That leaves 1 open scholarship which could go to this guy Kelm, whoever he is.
We lose 1 senior the following year and have two incoming committs already, Dykstra & Kadina. If we don't get Kelm and give that scholarship to a walk-on for one year only, we would be at the limit of 13 for the next three years. If we do get Kelm or if we get Harrison Barnes, we would need to free up a scholarship for the 2010/2011 season. That could happen if Brackins leaves for the NBA after his junior year. If he doesn't, will someone transfer? Probably. After all, there's a logjam of 9 players in 2 recruiting classes. They cannot all play, and there's a good chance at least one of them will end up transferring someplace where they can get on the floor.
Are we in trouble by scholarship count? I don't think so, but it looks like we would not be in the market for new recruits other than Harrison Barnes in the next two seasons.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN!!!
We have ZERO scholarships available yet, we are going after 2 guys very hard. Who is getting recruited over? Who is leaving?
I hate to say it, but I was right, us signing 7 guys last year was a big mistake! Now we have to give some players the boot OR they have to leave. It will be good for us as a basketball team, but it does NOT look good

Everyone has a backup plan, but he is just that, a backup plan. That means we will only give out 2 scholarships.
It's dumb. We can spin it however we want. Coaches knew that we were in on some really really good 2010 talent and YET we went out and signed 7 guys last signing period. A couple of which will never play.
Now we are put in the position of running people off, and that never looks good

Re: Kyle Kelm is.....
I wish people would quit talking about Brackins leaving early to go to the NBA, for gods sake the guy couldn't even dominate Hawaii!!!

Now we are put in the position of running people off, and that never looks good "In on" and signed are two different things. We have been "in on" some great talent many years and couldn't close the deal. We haven't closed the deal yet for on some of these guys, and we are speculating about things that haven't happened yet. The guys on the team now are developing, and you need a full team to practice. If someone decides they are good enough for more PT elsewhere, why is that a bad deal when they leave, assuming they complete their classes and keep their grades up so it doesn't impact scholarships from the academic standpoint?

Re: Kyle Kelm is.....
Quit the damn speculation of scholarships and let the coaches do their jobs. Do you idiots honestly think they don't know what they are doing? Some of you guys are so out of the loop its getting annoying. Either know whats going on or just sit and listen until you figure it out, quit with the dumb posts. Who is Kelm??? Are you serious??
Oh....Happy Thanksgiving to everyone too.....

Re: Kyle Kelm is.....
Stupid question: If somebody redshirts... do they still take up a scholarship??? For some reason I was thinking you are only on scholarship during your active years... but that's probably wrong. But if true that can explain a LOT.
This is my sarcasm pirate. There are many like it but this one is mine. -
Re: Kyle Kelm is.....
If ISU keeps losing players they will lose scholarships back to the NCAA

No, you were not right.
Did the Cory Johnson situation look bad? No, in fact it actually reflected well on the staff because they were honest with Cory and even helped him find a school. When handled well, it can be a positive. Personally, I am guessing this is why Boozer and Mann are playing as true freshmen, so they preserve their redshirt for the year they have to sit out after transferring.

It really doesn't look bad, and if we don't try to recruit over people then we will never get better.
The coaches know what they are doing.
