Very much mixed in CF area from Panther fans. Many of my friends don't like it he went to ISU but still root for him and there is no way they can really hate him because of the great success he brought to UNI.
I cannot wait for the game. Cyclone or Panther fan just remember: The Hawks suck!

Re: UNI ISU basketball
UNI blows. How can anyone root for a team wearing purple? Lame.

Re: UNI ISU basketball
My high school team was purple... I rooted for them. -

OK....high school doesn't count. (Except for Indianola....they stink.) Sorry to hurt your feelings there pal. But secretly, all the other schools that played you made fun of the purple color you HAD to wear.

Re: UNI ISU basketball
I dont think there would be any animosity between UNI fans and coach Mac if he would have went somewhere else, but going to an instate rival really ticked alot of people off. Like I said before, nobody could blame him because of the amount of money he would be making, but the fact that it was Iowa State hurt some fans.

Re: UNI ISU basketball
I think it would be accurate that apathy would set in for some fans if we lost to UNI again. Not everybody of course, but seriously that would make McD 0-7 against the valley at ISU. That would be embarrassing.
As for me, I'm not sure what to make of this team. I'll reserve judgement until they've played some into the conference. I do think lack of rebounding will be this teams downfall, however.

Re: UNI ISU basketball
They might say differently but everyone knows deep down 98.5% of UNI fans are Iowa fans.

Re: UNI ISU basketball
Mac's no more on the hot seat than Jacobson is. At least took over a program that had some issues. Jacobson took over a program in great position after 3 straight NCAA births.

Re: UNI ISU basketball
Has anyone seen UNI play?
I was wondering how good Ali Farokhmanesh and Johnny Moran are. Last year Josten torched us, my fingers are crossed that UNI doesn't have Farokhmanesh or Moran go off on us like he did.
I see Moran is getting to the free throw line (just based on stats) and is killing it from 3 pt. range. I was just wondering how the team is this year. Even for UNI they seem a little small on paper.

Re: UNI ISU basketball
The team UNI has this year is really young and has alot of new players playing key rolls. Ali, a transfer from Iowa Central, is in his first year here and has the potential to light it up from anyplace on the court, and is a really good shooter.
Moran is a true freshman PG from the chicago are and is really going to be a stud. Had a double double in his first collegiate game. Also has the ability to get really hot from 3 point land.
Then we got some decent big guys with Egleseder, Koch, and O'Rear. I like our team on paper, but they have looked really good at times and really terrible at times.
This team this season is going to look to get out and run alot more than the typical coach Mac/Jacobsen teams which usually rely on set plays the whole game. They are really trying to find themselves at this point and trying to gel together yet. I guess we will se how they do on Wednesday, as it will be the first big home game of the year.

I was at the Iowa - UNI game last year...packed house, but a lot of black in the student section, really depressing to see
but surely if Iowa can pull it off in CF so can we -
