Biggest win in Mac era so far?
Could last night's performance be Greg McDermott's biggest win so far as coach at ISU? It was on the road, I believe it was his first win against a Valley opponent since coming to ISU, and the team was playing in "The House that Greg built."
On the other hand... he has beaten Iowa (at home).

I'm not too impressed by beating a D 1-AA team or a mediocre iowa team. But they might actually be.
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
There's no such thing as a D 1-AA team in college basketball... There are over 300 D-1 men's basketball programs in the nation.
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
Maybe Missouri two years ago. McDermott called a great game in the last couple minutes.
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
I find the whole premise of this thread sad. To think we have fallen so far that beating a UNI team from the MVC is being discussed as the "biggest win" in a coach's tenure is really sobering.
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
I was most impressed with the inside game plan the team managed to stick to. When the threes aren't falling, I expect the team to lose, but they proved me wrong and I was excited to see it.
As far as being the biggest win: UNI is not that great of a team, and if if this was the best win in the Mac era so far then we haven't come very far yet.
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
Having to go to overtime to defeat UNI even if it was in overtime, is not something to crow about. UNI simply isn't that good of a team.
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
Didn't UNI beat Auburn? They can't be that bad. They have talent inside and out. Maybe not as much as they've had the last two years with McDermott's recruits.

I think that your point is right on! And to be honest...we have not come that far yet! Are we going to be fighting for a top half finish in the Big XII? I am not so sure we will be...I hope so...
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
I would agree, a "biggest win" against UNI is sad, however, that is the current state of ISU hoops. Let's be honest, we're no better now than we were when WM got fired.

Have you examined Auburn's record?
Or noticed how UNI got blown out when they played a relatively good team; Marquette?

I don't know much about Auburn this year, but the SEC conference is looking to be the worst BCS conference in basketball this year (although the Big 10 will give them a run for their money)

I was thinking the same thing...This pry is his biggest win at isu and while it is very sad it it very true...Now lets just win a couple big 12 games on the road! Please!

The last couple minutes? Pretty sure all he had to say in the huddle was get the ball down to CB or let DG do his thing...Tonight was the CB and DG show...

I really don't care if UNI has talent, we should always have more...
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
JJ,
I disagree with your comment, why can't UNI have a good/talented team? This is the same type of sentiment that makes me hate Hawkeye fans. Because Hawkeyes were born to this earth, they have this inherent feeling of superiority. Please, let's don't become what we hate the most...
Re: Biggest win in Mac era so far?
It's not that it's his biggest win, it's that it was his biggest game (non-loss).
