ESPNU?
Sorry if this has been posted before, been gone recently....but will the Connections channel pick up the games tonight? IA/UNI and ISU/Drake?
If I recall...ESPNU is not even on the expanded basic package for mediacom...it's in the pay for more "sports pack". Not sure on D-TV
Will a nice chunk of Iowa miss out on their own in-state games?

Re: ESPNU?
Good questions. I would like to know the answers on that too.
Also, to those mediacom people (yes I know they suck, but that can be a different thread) can you subscribe to the sports pak for a day and cancel tomorrow??

But seriously...A night with all 4 schools playing each other and it's not even available for those with basic cable, let alone no cable!

Re: ESPNU?
When I had Mediacom digital basic, I had ESPNU. I was never sure if I was supposed to have it as I thought it was supposed be part of the sports pack (which I didn't have), but I certainly didn't complain.

Re: ESPNU?
ESPNU is channel 614 on DirecTv and comes with the 15.99/month sports pack. I'm pretty sure if you pick up the sports pack for a day and then cancel it, you are only charged the partial rate, but I can't gaurantee that.

Really? Yikes. I have The same package through Dish and my bill is less than $70 and that includes local channels. Have had Dish for almost three years now. Do you have movie channels or HD package also? If not, you might want to call and investigate.

Re: ESPNU?
Ok, look. The sports pack is for people who want to watch sports.
If you watch sports, and you want to watch more sports, you ought to pick up the sports pack.
That's the whole point of it. If they put every game that was on the sports pack on your local, basic programming, there would be little incentive for anyone to ever buy the sports pack.
Now I know most of you think you're entitled to see every single ISU game that will ever be played picked up only via bunny ears into your 1976 RCA color television set. These days, the revenue from networks like ESPNU is important to the ISU athletic department. ESPNU makes money when you subscribe to it, which it can then use to pay for rights to these games.
It's available to everyone that has satellite/cable. Fork over the 5 bucks and pay for it. It's a lot cheaper than going to the game, still.

Re: ESPNU?
I can see ESPNU on my mediacom guide but it doesn't work. It is a "higher" channel to so I assume that is part of a separate pack as discussed above.

You are prorated, but there is a $15 cancellation fee if you don't have the extra package for at least 1 month. There is a way to get around it for some people. If you already subscribe to a premium package like shotime or HBO, you can switch it to the sports pack for the game then switch it back at no charge. You only get a cancellation fee if you go from a premium package and drop it entirely without replacing it.

I dont think I pay that much for the sports pack. I find it hard to believe Mediacom wont put this up since they has a love affair with Drake last year.
