Whats the deal with Mann and Buckley?

Garrett was weak and sluggish, i belive he is still sick and we were getting killed on the boards. Are they that behind the other players? Or can they still redshirt? Or are they not being played to encourage them to transfer?

It has been said that McD won't play you unless you play Defense. Perhaps their D sucks.

I think his questions are good.

I am not sure. It sounds like Mann me be just to undersized. The way people on this board are talking it sounds as though Buckley is having trouble picking up the offense right now.

I definitely thought Buckley would have seen the court by now. There has to be something going on that is preventing that.

Defense was certainly not the problem yesterday. Only scoring 3 points over the last 5 minutes of the game was.

I suspect that McD just believes there are better players ahead of them that give us a better chance to win. He's already going 9 deep on a regular basis. It's not terribly surprising that he's not going further to play freshmen.

Yeah our defense was not the problem. We let them drive by us but can't complain about holding a team to 39% shooting.

Our problem was rebounding, choking, dumb/weak fouls, choking, not finding the hot man, choking, old fashioned 3 point plays, coaching, choking

At the Cyclone Club Luncheon last Thursday McDermott said that he wanted to redshirt both Mann and Pomlee, but he needed to have 5 guys that can play the post positions. He said that he would rather have Pomlee for 5 years, so he redshirted him. He also said that he wants to play Buckley but with so few games played he hasn't had a chance. If we get a "comfortable" lead he will play. He said that Garrett played early last year out of necessity and that Buckley unfortunately is currently behind the other guards.

I really thought Buckley would come in and give us some dribble penetration from the point guard spot. McD said he was good enough to come in and play from day one which in my mind meant he'd be playing a lot more than he has. Maybe he's injured or something else is going on I'm not aware of that's affecting his minutes. I find it really hard to believe his defense is worse than the guys playing ahead of him as the reason why he's not logging more PT.

If Buckley and Mann only play in a couple more games this whole season will they still be able to use a redshirt for the year? I was thinking that they can play up to 5 games and still redshirt but I might be wrong. Anybody know the actual rules?
