Basketball and football are two seperate sports
Just because the fb team stunk it up especially towards the end doesnt mean you can carry all that negativity and disgust to the bb team. Alot of posters that rip G-Mac or the team in a thread throw in a mention about the fb team. What in the world does he or this team have to do with football?

Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
It's all just part of the meltdown. Best to ignore it.

Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
It's called needing something to cheer for. If football is good, basketball can be down yet the fanbase will remain energized, and vice verse. When they are both good, the fanbase is frenzied. When they are both bad, the fanbase is zzzzzzzzzzz.

Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
This year can't get over fast enough. ISU sports are in downward spiral. This is Mac's third year and we won't have a winning record once again. His fourth year maybe .500. Not good.
Football....I don't need to say anything (2-10).

Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
Both match the economy. Really upsetting.
That said, no way should Drake beat us unless we are not ready to play. We are not ready. We are a long ways down from 2000-04. Color it any color you want the flower to be, but we have a big climb back up the ladder.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
Wow, probably your best post - seriously.
It's very valid. However, I saw this coming. Fan apathy carries over. That's just how it works, fair or unfair.
A good season in MBB would help people get over the FB season and honestly, would instill some hope for '09 FB. Odd, but true.
A poor season in MBB and the frustration/anger comes out much quicker/stronger - because it's been fermenting for a while now.

Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
What makes me nervous or disappointed is that on this board the general opinion is that it takes longer to rebuild a football program than it does a basketball program. Well...3 years into the rebuilding of the basketball program and many of us are not satisfied with the results. And many still have faith in McD and ask that he is given more time until we judge him. What does this say about football? How long are we expected to wait in order to be satisfied with our football program? This is tough stuff! We all would be thrilled with instant gratification but it just doesn't work that way.

Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
Would it be possible to confine all of your posts to one single thread? I think it's amusing you start like 8 threads the day after a game.
My frustration with the team has little to do with the FB season, I'm over that. It has more to do with this being year three of the McD era and we're looking at no postseason again. My frustration has been fermenting for a while in regard to MBB regardless of how the FB team has done. I know he's building something but I bet there were KSU fans that felt Jim Woolridge was building something too when he got Clent Stewart and Cartier Martin as well.
I'm glad we don't have more losses... however we haven't beaten a team with an RPI lower than 183 yet this year. Iowa and Houston are the only teams left on the noncon schedule with RPI's under 100.

Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
I see what you're saying copenhagen, but don't deny that some parallels can be drawn between the two. Both are in a pretty bad way right now. The feelings toward the football team are always going to be carried over to the baskteball team because of the overlap of the seasons. From March to August the football team has a chance to build it's own optimism despite the basketball season. Basketball team? Not so much.
Not what you want to hear, but it is what it is.

Agreed. Although I was very disappointed in the FB season, I am not frustrated. I can "see" the vision and progress being made. Up until this point I do not see the same thing in MBB. I still support and root, but my frustation with MBB has literally nothing to do with my feelings about FB.
ISU fans are the greatest in the world. All they ask for is hope and the belief that we have a chance to win every time we step on the field - Johnny Majors (paraphrased)
Ya gotta have the horses, man - Johnny Orr. -

you and I think alike.

Re: Basketball and football are two seperate sports
This must not be an ISU board. Cyclone fans who can "see" vision and progress. Ridiculous.
