Re: Former cyclones and Committs Stats
We would be ranked eight in the MVC. Sad but true per Sagarin ratings. Instead, we are eleventh in Big 12.
So where can we be TOP DOG?
Lead the Conference/League per Sagarin: Big South, American east, Big West, Ivy, Mid eastern, Northwest, Patriot, Southland, Southwestern, or Independent. Yes, an independent.
2nd Place: Big Sky, Summit, or Western Athletic
3rd Place: Atlantic Sun. Metro Atlantic, or West Coast
4th Place: Mid America, Ohio Valley, or Southern
5th Place: Horizon
6th Place: Sun Belt
7th place: Atlantic 10, Conference USA, or Mountain West.
8th place: MVC
10th place: Big Ten
11th Place: Big 12 or PAC Ten (Oregon State is #268)
12th Place: ACC or SEC
15th Place: Big East
Which conference would you choose?

WTF does this post have to do with this thread? Does it make you feel better to look at how crappy we would be in every conference?
Get a life

If some of these players had stayed around to have been upper callssmen such as Taggart for rebounding, we might be doing better. Running a slow down offense and no run or gun probably resulted in a total team makeover.
The problem with the makeover is we continue to be at the bottom of the BCS teams. In fact the MVC is a tough out for us.
This team should be making more headway after three years than this. Losing to a #227 team in Hawaii was probably worse than losing to Drake, but the conference season is looking to be a mountain to climb at this point.

Just interesting to look at
Taggart was leaving before the coaching change.
P'Allen may be good on the court but he has off the court issues and isnt a team player.
Carr was gone before Mcd.
The last 2 never were Cyclones, there are lots of recurited players that never come to ISU.
Westbrook's success show what happens to players when you give them time to develop.
Why live in this past. McD is building a program here with kids that want to be here. There are good players on this team that need time to develop. There are also good players coming to ISU in the future, to build on that foundation.
Re: Former cyclones and Committs Stats
What about Dodie Dunson? 12.9 ppg, 2.9rpg, 1.4apg and is the leading scorer at Bradley right now.

Please explain this statement. If you are going to throw a young man under the bus you better have something to back that.
Re: Former cyclones and Committs Stats
Morgan could recruit though...Man for a while there we were getting almost anybody we wanted.
Re: Former cyclones and Committs Stats
Carr, Taggart, and especially Degand could have easily been retained. Carr was leaving because he was upset with Wayne. It wouldn't have taken a huge recruiting job to keep him and he would have done wonders for the team the last couple of years. Taggart hadn't decided anything but was likely tampered with, he could have been convinced to stay. Degand had already redshirted and was looking at a starting job if he stayed, had everything to gain by staying, IMO this was the one that we really needed to stay and couldn't hold on...
Coaching changes happen all the time but the MASS defections is pretty rare, no college athlete wants to sit out a year...

Re: Former cyclones and Committs Stats
Taggart was not leaving w/ Morgan as the coach, and he wasn't staying with McDermott as the coach.
Carr could have been convinced easily, but I think Degand was gone the second Wayne was
As for the posters Stinnett comment. P'Allen has been suspended and has been in and out of Altman's doghouse. I don't know if that means if he is a bad teammate or what that means, but he definitely has problems staying out of trouble

That's not true. Taggart could have easily been retained. McDermott came in guns blazing and it ran Taggart off. If you want to have a discussion over whether that was the right thing to do to "clean up" the program we can. But don't misinform people that Taggart had already packed his bags.

The story is not there any more.
P'Allen missed the Nebraska game because he wasnt doing what was asked of him off the court. Rumor was he wasnt going to study hall. He was also not playing in DA's system. DA has said he is not going to change his style for one player so that player better change his, or something along those lines.
Re: Former cyclones and Committs Stats
It's too bad we couldn't let Tasheed play PG more when he was here. He obviously couldn't beat out Will Blalock but Carr is a very solid college PG.

He may be referring to Altman for suspending him for a game. Thought he skipped classes or some events. Altman likes to control his team. Hurt his team missing that one game.
