    Re: Bring back Larry

Larry somehow managed to not win the NCAA tournament with the most talented team we have ever (and probably will ever) see in Ames.

Beyond that, they weren't even his players. We owe Tim Floyd for that elite 8 run.

In a TV interview Fizer was asked to compare Floyd and Larry. He responded that the two would make the same adjustments but Larry was much faster to do it. Perhaps several of you saw this.

LOL yeah keep telling yourself that.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

It's true. He didn't want to spend any money. Look at what JP has done in the little time he has been in charge. Only problem is the hole is really deep. Going to take a while.

No, the problem is the hole is getting deeper. It's going to take us years to get back to the bowl games and NCAA tournaments that we used to experience regularly (back before Jamie arrived).

    Re: Bring back Larry

Sorry, didn't have time to read the thread, but by the title I assume you want to bring back "Hello, Larry," the failed 80s sitcom. Two problems. First, McLean Stevenson is dead. Second, the ****** is going to need a lot of help. Perhaps you could catch a few old Match Game episodes to get your McLean Stevenson fix in lieu of getting back the old series.

Results like INCREASED donations and fund raising?
Results like increased membership with the ISU booster club?
    Results like record ticket sales?
    Results like record attendance?
Results like continued improvement in facilities?
Results like the woman's vollyball program and the wrestling program?

Yep, I agree the results do speak for themselves.

and yes BVD was in way over his head.

WE ARE STILL PAYING FOR THE BDV AD EXPERENCE. He tried to save ISU into prosperty. He ****ed up the BB program. He couldnt get fans into the seats. He wasnt able to take advantage of the best run in Cyclone sports history. He had no idea how to raise money. He didnt know PR. He didnt know how to handle the media. Thank God Danny Mac was there to be the face of ISU athletics and keep things halfway together.

i think you guys are preaching to the very small minority on this website. most on here would probably agree with the likes of kingcy and goshow on this topic.

montyburns seems to me to be a bit of a schizo(sp?) on this site.
one minute he seems to have well thought out ideas and postings, the next he is acting like a hawk fan
