Re: Starting lineup
I like this lineup for this year:
PG-SG-Garret, Petey(Buckley and Hulaska off the bench)
SF-Lucca Staiger(Eikmeirer[I think this is how it's spelled] of the bench)
PF-Craig Brackins
C-Hamilton(Thompson of the bench)

Re: Starting lineup
Next year if Craig stays I see this:
PG-Buckley, Garret
SG-Eikmeire, Colvin
SF-Lucca,Gilstrap
PF-CB, L.A.
C-Hamilton

C-Hamilton I don't see anyway 2 of those things happen. I don't see Eik starting and I don't see Garret not starting

Why can't you see Eik starting?

It's not a sure thing but there are plenty of young guys who make the jump to the NBA with his body type, skill set, and experience who are just as up and down.

Re: Starting lineup
Any lineup without Alex Thompson is a better lineup. I was thrilled when he went to Iowa, then just to upset me, he came back.

Re: Starting lineup
Here is what the lineup could be this year still. I looked at each player's stats per minute played and extrapolated them into actual gametime minutes. The biggest suprise...Boozer.
PG: Garret (35 min) 12 pts / Buckley (5 min) 1 pt
G: Boozer (25 min) 7 pts / Eikmeier (20 min) 6 pts
G/F: Staiger (35 min) 14 pts
F: Brackins (35 min) 22 pts
C: Vanderbeken (25 min) 9 pts / Hamilton (20 min) 7 pts
Now this of course assumes no injuries or major foul trouble. This would give us 78 pts per game, we currently average 66 pts per game. I think coach uses too many players and substitutes too much. I can remember Orr saying once that 20 year olds don't get tired and can run for 40 minutes (which his players did).

Re: Starting lineup
So this is potentially unlikely and clearly down the road, but as an Cyclone, I feel the need to dream sometimes and think happy thoughts. Here's my lineup for 2010:
PG DG/Colvin (Sr/So)
SG Colvin/DG/Lucca (So/Sr/Sr)
SF Harrison Barnes (Fr)
PF CB (Sr)
C Hamilton (Jr)
Not bad?

Re: Starting lineup
The only thing I'm confident about with regards to next year's lineup is that DG and Brackins will both start, assuming they are here. Beyond that, I think its anyone's guess.
I could see the lineup changing based on the opposition to either include or not include a center. I'm hoping Hamilton will be that center, but I'm not writing off JVB. Gilstrap and Lucca could probably play the 4 in smaller lineups, which we've seen at times this year. Playing against a smaller 4 might be the best matchup for Lucca, as he seems to lack some lateral speed on defense. He reminds me a lot of Korver at Drake last year, who excelled in that situation.
Against opponents who press I suspect McDermott will want two ballhandlers in the game, as we are seeing this year with DG and Petey. For this reason I am somewhat suspicious of slotting Lucca at the 2. I don't think DG is going to move to the 2 to start, but wouldn't be surprised to see Buckley sub in and take over at the point and slide DG to the 2. Eik and Colvin will likely get substantial minutes, but I don't think Colvin will start early in the season.
