Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
Do you agree?
My Basis is this: I seem to remember that Holloway was under-appreciated during his playing days (maybe not as a sr...) and while he was not flashy or fill up the stat columns, his intangibles (bball IQ, careful ball handler, calmness on the court) made him good. I think Clone fans found out how important he was after he graduated.
Will we say the same about Petey?
To me, there is room for a "Holloway" on every team.
Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
I don't think he is as solid as Holloway was, but I am happy with what he does in general. If there were more scorers on the team, I think we would appreciate him more.
Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
Hard to say. Holloway was a better pure PG than Petey is. I'm sure BP would do fine with Willoughby, Pratt, Cato, and Bankhead surrounding him. Jacy ALWAYS had a great cast of characters around him.
Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
i think jacy was overrated in his day. seemed to me he couldn't ever knock down the jumper and teams would always sag off him.

Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
I should emphasize that my point is the under-appreciated nature (by some fans) surrounding the two. That is the similarity I see.
Also, "Intangibles"

There's some truth to that. Often times we played 4 on 5 because he was NO threat to hit or take a jumper. Later in his career he got better about that.
Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
they are not even close to the same player, except for being white.
Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
JC was way better than Brian Peterson, he ran the team, I am not even sure what peterson is doing most of the time.
Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
Petey = Much much better shooter
Jacy = Better defender, better athlete
Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
BP is an ok off guard. He is not a good PG, but he fills the roll of the off guard nicely with his smarts.

When he played with the likes of Willoughby, Cato, Pratt, and other good scorers he didn't really need to worry about shooting and just had to pass the ball. I don't remember him turning the ball over very much and his sr. year he turned into an average to slightly above average shooter.

I've granted that Holloway didn't score much. But I remember him closing out games for us- he didn't turn the ball over, and hit his foul shots.
Re: Bryan Peterson = Jacy Holloway?
Holloway made the shots when it counted.....we would have not beaten Kansas in the very last Big 8 tournament championship game without a HUGE three-pointer he made in the final minute.
He also put in 11 points against Cincinnati in the 2nd round game of the NCAA his senior season, which were VERY important since we only won by a point.

Didn't this discussion just happen yesterday?
