That's the two senior walkons, and Craig Brackins, by the way.

Truth is that Greg McDermott's so called tough offense scheme to understand is a MYTH, a FAIRY TALE, and is simply not true.
What on our offense appears to be hard to learn? The players don't move, so that can't be it. They don't set screens, or very little screens, so that can't be difficult either. Maybe they don't move because they don't know the playbook.
I have seen our play book, and we have a ton of movement incorporated in our offense, but right now, we can't go into the more complex stuff because: our young guys don't understand it yet. If you honestly believe that our offense involves standing around and no screens, think again. Right now we only use the screen and rescreen because the players don't know the plays completely yet.

Re: Chris Colvin Article in Chicago Sun-Times
If the playbook is that hard to learn and not something you pick up quickly wont this run off a few kids who want playing time early once the program gets off the ground? most kids will start to notice and we will miss out on some top notch players. Maybe I am all wet but we dont have much to offer and this will make it one less thing.

Do you guys honestly think that McDermott runs this extra special offense that nobody else in the country runs? If so, you are naive.
Do you guys watch college basketball? Do you realize we aren't THAT young? Compare us to other teams. Yes we are young, but there are younger teams that are looking much better that we are. Their offense looks much more smooth!
You have 4 years to play ball! 4! How long does it take you to learn the offense??!??!?! It shouldn't take you more than a year! You practice everyday!
Let's face it, our offense is bad. He runs a blah offense. This is a fact. Stats at all his other stops back it up, and can't be argued.

If a college coach in the Big XII has a 'playbook' that takes two full years to learn, he really needs to reconsider his 'playbook'. You win with an 'offense', not plays...

Like usual, you are correct
Problem is, that a lot of guys around here like to use EXCUSES when we don't do something right. They did it for Chizik and they do it for Mac

They did it for Chizik and they do it for Mac As a UNI grad who watched quite a few UNI games under Coach Mac (and an ISU season ticket holder for the past five years), I would suspect you see what you want to see.
Did McD's system slow the ball down and only take quality shots at UNI? Yes. So, are his scoring totals at UNI lower than what you personally desire? Yes.
Was his offense boring? No.
Did the UNI teams stand around without movement? No. In fact, they had some of the best movement I have seen in years. The back screens and screening of the screener were something that reminded me of the Tim Floyd / Fred Hoiberg / Hurl Beechum days.
When we were winning all those games under Floyd, were we scoring in the 80s and 90s? No. When we beat Kansas in the final game of the Big 8 Tournament, did we even reach 60 points? No. Does that make the offense a "boring" or "bad" offense? Maybe to you, but not to me.
