In any game they keep it within 6-10 points, they can stay close with their 3-pt shooters... now if Brack would just show up for 40 instead of 20 minutes... They did until they took six threes in a row after CB went to the bench....

The 'what if?' is a tough one to forget
What i couldn't figure out is why Hamilton was called for fouls for standing there ramrod straight with his arms straight up n down. One minor quibble i have of G-Mac is i wish he would have brought in Eik and let him try a couple of 3's. This would have been a perfect game for him to bust a few and get his shooting back on track.

I think Eik is a year away from being able to give us some quality Big 12 minutes. I hope we don't have to depend on him because I don't think hes quite ready.

I think the opposite: we still shoot too many threes, and thus not enought free throws. We could have drawn fouls on Texas like they drew on Hamilton. Lucca had no FT's, and one rebound.

We probably could have picked up a nice # of points from the free-throw line.

Re: ISU-UT Post game thread
I only watched the last 15 min or so, and enjoyed seeing how close they were when I started (didnt know it would be on here). It was also nice that they kept it mostly as close til the end. However, I never for one second felt like we had a chance to win. I'm not complaining given the result and the competition but it seemed like we were lucky to get a good shot and get it down while Tx was sort of just letting it flow and not having to press even one bit. I dont even think I have a point it was just an odd feeling considering we were within 4 or 5 a couple of times. Good effort though. Hopefully this means we are in for some competative games here and there.
Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving. -

1. Our guys were not intimidated by Texas. The crowd was not much of a factor... most of the students were still gone, but most of the place was quiet until the last few minutes when Texas had pulled away enough for them to feel comfortable.
2. Officiating was fairly balanced but the last 10 minutes saw Texas get away with a lot of contact... meanwhile our guys could not play a possession on defense without getting called. Frustrating... but not an excuse for losing.
3. Hamilton's dunk was sweet. Most of the UT fans around us were stunned. We need more of that.
4. Damion James and Gary Johnson are great athletes and really picked up the slack since we were defending Abrams so closely. But when A.J. got loose ... wow, he has a nice shot.
5. Dexter Pittman is FAT LOP OF POOP. Fixed it for you.

The gap in our economy is between what we have and what we think we ought to have--and that is a moral problem, not an economic one. - Paul Heyne -

Maybe he's just hit his freshman wall early, but hopefully he'll develop into a nice threat off the bench.
All in all, I cannot complain about the effort today, and I was far from embarassed by a single digit loss at Texas. Please, please, please beat Nebraska at home on Wednesday, and I will like our chances at Mizzou next weekend.

Re: ISU-UT Post game thread
I was disappointed that we weren't able to get the win, but I can't complain. I love the effort, and I'm very happy with how the team played in what will be one of our toughest games this year. Keeping within 10 of a top ten team on the road is a great step for these guys. And, again, all I have to say to Ham is this: .
If we keep playing like this, we have four very winnable games coming up. We should be able to beat NU at Hilton, and we always play Mizzou tough in Columbia. Then Hilton will be rocking, and we will have a chance to beat a down KU team. Then back on the road to play Colorado. The Buffs are a horrible team yet again this year, but that hasn't stopped us from losing in Boulder every year. I think this will be the year we get past them.
The future seems to be looking very bright .

If we start 4-1 in conference play, the Kool-Aid will flow like a mighty river!! -
Re: ISU-UT Post game thread
Great game by the Clones yesterday. No way should we have hung so close to them. Just as we expected James was the guy who would beat us as we have nobody who can match up with him.
Our offense was pretty darn good (for our standards). D was solid. We did a great job of playing D.
It would have been a little better seeing how much more effective our D would have been had Brackins been allowed to actually play some after picking up fouls.
I really hope that we have a crowd of more than 13,000 for the Nebraska game. I know that is pretty much a dream because there have probably only been a handful of games in the last 2 years in Hilton with that many people there. Cant wait to beat the Huskers.

CB needs to make his free throws if he is fouled on the inside.
