Re: Summary?
Missouri: Made everything. Couldn't miss. Just kind of a kick in the balls when they have guys pulling up at 24' and hitting threes...or rolling around picks and hitting...
Iowa State: Let's see, positive, Justin Hamilton! Wasn't very far from having a 20 point game at all. PLEASE Justin, when you have the ball under the hoop, DUNK it...don't try and lay it in and have it denied. Brackins had a sweet dunk but was otherwise unheard of (and in my opinion, he needs to quit shooting 3s). Eikmeier has never played against a team with that kind of team speed...and it showed. The smarts to know where to go with the ball were there...the execution however was quite lacking. Haluska I don't expect a huge offensive contribution from, but every player on the team needs to take a lesson from him or Lucca in getting around picks. Lucca was solid defensively, but next to nothing on offense. Petey had a couple looks but clanked 'em. Buckley got eaten alive by their guards in the last couple minutes. DG had a couple gimmies he missed. Any shot from within 8 feet should ALWAYS get some rim unless it's deflected or you shouldn't be shooting it. He had 2 layups in a 5 minute span that hit the board, but never even got relatively close to the rim. AT was AT. JVB didn't do anything flashy, but don't think he hurt. We did an AWFUL job on the boards minus Petey (I'll give him credit...that guy's got hops). We didn't handle their press too badly. Easily could've cut off a couple turnovers by catching the ball (see: Lucca, JVB, AT)
Oh, and another positive: Cyclone Alley Portable Edition, as well as the setup Missouri has for basketball. Mizzou Arena (when did they put "zz"s in Missouri or an "a" at the end?) is pretty dang nice looking from the outside, and the concession stands were excellent. Place looks huge from inside because the rows are so spread apart.

Wichita State Coach said last night in response to a question,"We need to compete." Simple enough, ISU did not compete, that is the story of the season. (See SDSU) Peterson rebounds, everyone else trys to catch the rebound if it happens to come to them. One possession in the first half, 5 maroon jerseys under the MU basket 1 white. White jersey gets the ball 3 times before it goes in. That's attitude, not ability. Garrett and Brakins continue to slide away from the basket on drives, instead of taking it strong toward the hoop. That's attitude. LE used to say his team was "fragile."I don't think this team is fragile, and I don't think strength or experience is going to change it much. Toughness has already been discussed.

Cyclone Alley showed up, Cyclone basketball did not... :(
He is just doing what Mike Taylor did except he has a hard time on layups. McD probably said keep dribbling DG against the press because all our passes were being intercepted.
I guess this proves that even a slow down NcD style can be swamped by 31 points. The second half was a disaster on guarding their shooters.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

There were actually 2 white jerseys under the basket on that possession but that doesn't change your point. Mizzou was just determined to score and one of the smallest guys on the floor put the ball in the basket in between all our bigs. Time for our guys to get physical and not in an Olivia Newton-John way.

Doesn't matter what system you're using: If the other team is hitting shots, and you're missing them, it's a bad formula. We ran into a team that decided they needed to go off from behind the three point line. A lot of those threes were either rolling around picks or 3+' behind the line. Gotta give Missouri credit for sinking them. The only way to match their threes was to hit our own, and we all know the tell of that tale...
Oh, another thing, we're in trouble with any team that has an inside player who is built solid. Brackins just gets shoved around, which is kinda disheartening
