Re: Wayne Morgan
Right, I didn't say that is why he was fired, in fact I believe he was cleared before they let him go...it's just most people didn't realize he was cleared and the fact he was fired at that time gave most people the impression he was fired for his involvement in that "scandal".

Re: Wayne Morgan
I also found it funny that Gregg Doyel proclaimed his article as the reason Wayne was let go...despite there being no evidence what-so-ever that we did anything wrong in that article.

Re: Wayne Morgan
5. ****** about the D1 Scheduling allegations. Sounds like the first thing every potential opportunity he talked to people about would bring this up. ****** that such a big deal was made when it was brought up but then very little was said when he was cleared. He said it was all a bunch of crap but when he would try to explain to people he was cleared they are like ya right...then why were you let go by ISU. I would be ****** to, he didn't just lose his job, the fact they let him go under those circumstances screwed him over for future jobs. Apparently after he was cleared but still let go someone in administration apologized to him and said he was getting hosed. Gregg Doyel may say otherwise, but the whole D1 scheduling thing was not why Wayne was let go...I agree that didn't amount to anything-and if we did anything wrong, it was minimal.
And that is why I feel that Gregg Doyle is the biggest ********* in a profession (sports journalism) that seems to be full of douchebags. That ***** tried to make his expose look like the freakin' equivalent of Watergate. The mere mention of Doyle's name makes my blood boil, and I discovered he was beaten within an inch of his life in a carjacking or something, I would not feel one ounce of sympathy, not one. He is scum, pure and simple. -

Re: Wayne Morgan
Morgan was NOT a good HEAD coach. An assistant maybe, but his "Dr. Phil" coaching style was weak!
-
Re: Wayne Morgan
Well that coaching style got us to the post-season didn't it.

Re: Wayne Morgan
According to a friend that knows Archibald, the staff was feeling pressure (and no support) from JP very early in the season, and they had no idea why since they were coming off an NCAA year with a victory. I doubt JP would have been trying to get rid of WM without the ok (or prodding) of some big donors. I know some people didn't think WM could coach, but I thought his teams played pretty good D in addition to a fun upstyle tempo to watch, and everybody knows the guy could recruit. No he wasn't a hard-head like Knight, but those kind of coaches aren't very successful at the high d-1 level anymore.

Re: Wayne Morgan
Morgan's biggest downfall as a coach was that he couldn't get his teams to defend and rebound effectively. The 2-3 zone that was trapping his first two years was great. But no one ever caught on very well to help side, rotation and close outs.

Re: Wayne Morgan
JP and Geoffrey summoning Wayne to Geoffrey's Beardshear office at 9 pm. (on a Thurs. eve. I believe) to fire him; that still takes the cake for me. Why couldn't that wait until normal daytime hours?

Re: Wayne Morgan
We had 3 very talented teams under Morgan...all 3 were fun to watch when they played hard, and extremely frustrating when they didn't...I don't blame the 2-3 zone or the run and gun style for anything...it was proven that our teams could succeed when they gave an honest effort..
Personally though, I'd much rather watch a team with 16-14 talent go 16-14, than watch a very talented team pick and choose when they were gonna play hard, and consistantly underachieve.

IMO, the real reason is because we were not doing things right and opponents took note.
