Correction for Wally 86- Morgan beat GMac's best team in Ames in Morgan's last year. And there's no stopping people that want to think Morgan couldn't coach, was undisciplined, had trash talking players, and all that other garbage I've seen on the board about Morgan (nobody talked more trash than Tinsley but I never heard any complaints about him). Bottom line is Morgan took over a program on the verge of collapse, kept the guys he recruited and gave us 3 pretty good years with many great wins. He had a young team his last year but was under heavy pressure from JP, which the players also felt, and that's not a good atmosphere for any team. We still would likely have been in the NIT had JP lobbied for a game. I'll always be grateful to WM for saving our program and giving us many great wins during the regular and post season.
Best win I ever witnessed in person... when we beat Texas and Boddicker missed two free throws that would have won the game. It was so f'in loud... probly my favorite game especially after I heard that Stinson walked by him right before he shot the free throws and told him it was time to back up his ***** talking.
"Son, a woman is like a beer. They smell good, they look good, you'd step over your own mother just to get one! But you can't stop at one. You wanna drink another woman!"
Without starting a big debate...Gregg Doyel may say otherwise, but the whole D1 scheduling thing was not why Wayne was let go...I agree that didn't amount to anything-and if we did anything wrong, it was minimal. Whether people agree with it or not, Wayne was on a VERY thin rope before that article came out, and just the fact that Iowa State's name was associated with something bad was all the excuse Pollard needed at that point to get rid of him.
#1 Greg Doyle is a tool
#2 Jamie wanted his own guys in here asap. So he used whatever he needed to get Wayne and others out in a hurry.
Don't forget about Roy Bright...who was within an eyelash of commiting here before Bobby Huggins swooped in at the last second to snag him...Although Huggins couldn't have cared less about players going to class, he kicked Bright off the team...Bright was arrested for firing a handgun on campus...Bright and Theo Davis could've made quite the pair...
