Re: GMac: Message boards hurt recruiting . . .
Maybe GMAC should worry more about fielding a team that is competitive.

if greggie boy can't stand the heat in the kitchen in coaching of d-1 basketball,he had better go back and coach jr high basketball
where it would not effect his alter ego--greg-one simple message-you were hired to put a good product on the floor at iowa state-my question is ,"DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE COMPLETED THAT TASK?'

It would take some dedicated hawk fans (and others) to pay $5 just to come here and antagonize us/ sabotage recruiting.

Exactly. It all boils down to winning. If you give the fans something to be positive about then you won't have to worry about it. Just ask Captain Kirk and the Squawks if they are enjoying this offseason more than last. And what changed for them? The product on the field.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that these two things probably also have a profound effect fan defeatism and criticism.
Take care of #1, and the Internet message board issue will take care of itself...

Do you really think he walks around the Jake all day thinking to himself, "God, I hope no one on CF is starting a new 'Fire Greg' thread today, because I just can't work under those conditions." Eesh.

A lot being made of nothing here.
And I also had quite the time reading the original post, trying to decipher between what Greg actually said and the random editorial stuff.

Good grief people already getting defensive and bashing...
If you honestly can't understand why the topic at hand makes a valid point then you need to put a helmet on.
If you don't think recruits in today's age get on and read about us, you are crazy. Why in the world would a kid want to play basketball at a school where after EVERY loss there are masses of people calling for the coach's head and starting identical threads about how our players are worthless and have no talent.
IMO it's just too many uneducated fair weather fans who really don't know diddly squat about basketball and are too impatient.
