I'm really excited about Pomlee next year!

Re: Some bios of some of the mens basketball team!
Regarding Pomlee, I can't remember ever seeing a player redshirt his first year on campus and then have an impact the next year. I haven't been around too long, but it has to be a rare occurrence. If he's good enough to make an impact next year, he should be playing this year, period.
KU has a redshirt sophomore, Brady Morningstar, who you will see on Saturday, probably gaurding Lucca all game. He redshirted last year and is actually playing about 30 minutes a game this year. He is the only guy I can think of, off the top of my head, that has had a big impact the year after he redshirted, but that situation is different than Pomlee's, in that there were five guards from last year's roster in front of him that aren't there now.
So, I think the only chance Pomlee has to get more than, say, 8 minutes a game next year is if Brackins goes pro, because I assume Vanderbeken and Hamilton will still be ahead of Pomlee for PT. Plus, it wouldn't be shocking to see Gilstrap get a few minutes per game at the 4 spot either. At some point, it becomes a numbers game, and I think you can pencil in Brackins for 30 minutes a game and Vanderbeken and Hamilton to combine for 35-45 minutes a game out of a possible 80 minutes for the 4 and 5 positions.

This isn't a comparison of the two by any means, but Eric Piatkowski had a very impressive RS freshman debut in the early 90's. Averaged about 11 ppg on what might have been Nebraska's best all-time team.

LA has talent, it is just very raw. He was a perfect candidate for a redshirt. He has the athletic ability to be a force in the middle, just needs a little seasoning.

I don't expect for LA to still contribute much next year. Gilstrap will play ahead of him. By his third year, he should be pretty solid.
