If that kid stays, we have two athletic players out there that can score from anywhere. He would have had to be good for 12-20, which makes this a whole different game.
Then people are mentioning that junior as a real NBA prospect, and he's months away from being a millionaire.
Oh, well. What's done is done. I think.

Re: Post game thoughts
Haven't read through the thread...but my thoughts from the game...
Brackins was incredible...I drew about four or five looks from the guy in front of me, as I repeatedly said, "no, that's a horrible shot" as he put up fadeaways and 17 footers off the dribble in the first half....then the shots dropped...the guy was just white-hot today and played great. Unfortunately...only Haluska, Boozer, and Vanderbeeken (to an extent) decided to join him on the court today.
When you put such an emphasis on shooting the 3ball, the shooters need to make shots (Albert Einstein observation I know), and we were god-awful today from the perimeter (other than our posts).
Bottomline, we lost to a better basketball team today...Kansas played patient, disciplined basketball...the season isn't over, but we've got to be more consistant...and I'm as big of a McDermott fan as there is, but I'd like to see him hold players a little more accountable during games, even if it isn't by benching them...an earful after a bad shot or a careless turnover will do...
In closing, I think the biggest difference between the two teams was athleticism...we lose Haluska, Peterson, and Thompson-and bring in Colvin, Gilstrap, Pomlee, and Christopherson next year...I think that will make a big difference (and yes I know, other teams bring in players too-and other players improve).
Just my thoughts from today, sorry the the length.

Just my thoughts from today, sorry the the length. 3-21 from behind the arc will leave a lot of points out there. If guys that aren't named Brackins or Vanderbeken could shoot 30-40% today, this is a whole different ball game.

I dont think you should say everyone. Alot were excited to see them play but realists probably felt that they would not be game makers. Staiger has helped quite a few games and has been playing some decent ball, just not a difference maker yet. The other two need some development time and I knew they would. Dont take peoples excitement about new recruits away from them. Their energy is what keeps me excited about ISU sports from year to year. Sometimes they go a little overboard.

Good post. Would it be better for people to be excited and sometimes go a little overboard, or to be cynical at every opportunity? It seems like enthusiasm is going to be a much better, or at least more fun, way to go. And this really is a fun thing here, isn't it? We're just fans. We're disappointed, but we don't really have to deal with it the way the real players and coaches do.

KU = mostly Big 12 talent
ISU = not so much Big 12 talent
KU = Big 12 style BB
ISU = not Big 12 style BB
Result = young KU team goes on the road and beats young ISU team... Posted via Mobile Device -

Here's mine:
We shot terrible as a "team."
Cyclones <> Good Team Shooting
They shot very well as a "team."
Jayhawks = Good Team Shooting.
Beyond that, the "Big XII" talent & styles of play were there on both sides in the game I watched. We just need a few guys besides CB to step up and make shots. They did not dominate us based on overbearing talent or style of play - we just didn't make our shots and they made theirs. Kansas Shooting: FGM-A | 3PM-A | FTM-A 31 for 61 | 6 for 13 | 14 for 18 50.80% | 46.20% | 77.80% ISU Shooting: FGM-A | 3PM-A | FTM-A 19 for 55 | 6 for 26 | 23 for 27 34.50% | 23.10% | 85.20%

It looks like we have too many role players and not enough gamemakers. I think the starting lineup needs a shakeup. It is not working that well. Time to experiment some more. If the guards cannot shoot, sit them. When someone scores 42 and the rest of the crew snoozes, time for some experimentation. Start VB, SG, etc. I saw an awful lot of standing around when Kansas shot the ball.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I would have to agree, BUT we had our chances in this one despite the poor shooting as a team. When we cut the lead to six with a few minutes to go (3 or 4), hilton was coming alive, that had to have been the loudest of the game. As all of u seen after that moment we just couldn't convert on the offensive end. Can't complain about Brackins though, awesome performance.

Re: Post game thoughts
we need a point guard and a good forward and this team will compete next year. weird thing is it actually looks like we did pull in these guys. lets give coach mac some more time on recruiting.

Huh...that's odd...

Re: Post game thoughts
I thought we needed to crash the boards more on offense. Numerous times there wasnt a single white jersey under the boards and we just gave away any chance for put back points. As far as KU shooting, they run good offensive sets and our guys either lost focus or just cant keep it up to guard for 35 seconds. Toughness has a lot to do with it. The team should be encouraged by their play and resolve and not let this one get too out of hand. We have to learn to fight through screens and not let the other team get the looks they have gotten the last two games. Easier said than done but I took some positives out of this game.

It was pick your poison...not saying you aren't right, but if we would've tried to crash the offensive boards-we probably would've given them more easy layups and dunks in transition...and we had a hard enough time stopping them from getting layups in the half court...one thing about Kansas that has remained the same in all of their teams from Roy to Self now, is watching them move the ball is truly a thing of beauty.
