People need to Prepare
Today's performance from Brackins is going to cause his draft statis to shoot up. I will be shocked if CB doesn't declare at the end of the year and test the waters. However, I think he will not hire an agent so he can come back to ISU if he doesn't project as well as expected.
GMac's biggest recruiting job is now CB. He has got to get CB back for at least 1 more year or GMac will basically be done at ISU. GMac is in danger of losing his best player for the 3rd year in a row (Taylor, WJ and now possibly CB).
No meltdowns this spring when CB declares. After he hires an agent, well, then meltdown.

Re: People need to Prepare
My biggest worry about the program has switched from signing HB to keeping Brackins...

Re: People need to Prepare
If he's ready to go, let him go.
Personally, I don't think he is ready yet, but he still has 14 or so games to prove me wrong.

Re: People need to Prepare
I think it would be a couple million dollar mistake to go this year for him, although I wouldn't be surprised to see him test the waters and get a Lloyds of London insurance policy to ensure future earnings. Lottery pick or late 2nd round pick would be my guess on what he is looking at right now.

Re: People need to Prepare
Wow - are people really going to meltdown if Brackins goes pro next year? How should I prepare? Should I buy hundreds of boxes of kleenex, warm blankets and a self help book just in case?
Or wait - I've got an idea! If Craig goes to the pros I can cheer him on and support him and be very proud that he came to ISU and then encourage the next guys in line to step up in his place. Or if he stays, I'll cheer him on and support him and be very proud that he's still at ISU - yeah, that sounds a little easier to me. - “I’m not a spin my wheels type of guy." - Coach Paul Rhoads -

Re: People need to Prepare
I'd be pretty surprised if CB decided to stay.
I'd put him leaving after this year at 85%

Some people on this site have a meltdown over anything and I'm tired of it. Just realize that there is a pretty good chance that ISU will be much worse next season. There is also a pretty good chance that CB stays and ISU is a NCAA team next year.

No meltdowns this spring when CB declares. After he hires an agent, well, then meltdown. Frankly, if Brackins is going to be a sure fire lottery pick then he would be a fool to not enter the draft. If that were to happen, you really could not hold that against McDermott.
In fact, I believe that a coach in McDermott's position should not be trying to "talk Brackins into staying". Rather, he should be helping him make a solid decision for himself. That would mean helping him access as much information as possible to find out exactly where he would go.
If the lottery is a lock then a coach has to think of the financial best interest of the kid. If the kid is borderline lottery that is the tough one...and one where the quality coaches help the player get as much info as possible to make a good decision. If the kid is not a lottery pick then the coach also has to make sure they are helping the kid with sound info that lets him know that.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
Re: People need to Prepare
All he has to do is point to Blake Griffin. Griffin was a lottery lock. He decided to come back, and he will be a sure fire top 5.

Re: People need to Prepare
I do not think the pros would have a spot yet. The keeper number of American bball players is about 20 per year in NBA. He would have to play overeseas with others similar to him. He needs one more year in college at least. However, you can always go early and do it whethjer you make a team like Stinson.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

4 years in a row if you consider the year between Morgan and Mac he lost all the players. What other program can say that? Brackins isn't going pro unless he's a lottery pick, because at some point, he will be. How can you blame Mac if he leaves (hence firing him). Mac's the one who developed him into being this dominate. He's light years better than when CB first got here. Do you think that happened by accident?

No, I give all of the credit to GMac and CB, but the clock is running. GMac only has a set amount of time to turn this thing around. The clock is running, he has to get CB back next year. CB is 1,000 times more important to the future of ISU basketball that HB.
