Things are not looking good for Jamie. I think Cale's relocation may be the thing that take some blinders off others. It's going to be interesting to see how long he remains employed by us. We have been a rebuilding stage for 4 years with our major sports and the rewards are few. Wesley Staten (2012 - verbal commit) -

You sound like a hawkeye fan. High on the team when things go well, and don't want to be associated with the program when you're not. The stadium improvments were for the big donors. Absolutely nothing for the average fan, except for parking further and further away.
Johnny Orr and Tom Davis seemed to win a lot of games with a new practice facility. It's completely unnecesary. I saw Johnny's team practice in the old Armory and it seemed to suit them just fine.
And you may not have heard, but Sanderson quit.
The basketball team is horrible and getting worse. And Pollard's given him a 9 year contract, apparently.
Pollard has been an epic disaster.

The facelift were needed...badly. As an east-sider, I'll reserve judgement til this fall on how much it'll benefit me peronally. But overall, alot of what's been done was needed to keep the dollars flowing in.
And the bball practice facility has as much to do with recruiting than it does the pure logistics. The library worked just fine for me when I was in school - but apparently we have to offer these kids multi-million dollar student centers to boot. Nobody argued much when that thing was built.

Pollard has been an epic disaster. I don't disagree that things are not going well, but if ISU wants to compete for better recruits in basketball they need to continue to improve facilities. We are not living in the days of Tom Davis and Johnny Orr. Recruits want to see shiny new toys and top coaches want to have at least decent facilities to work in. I disagree that the B-Ball team is getting worse. GMac has had to start from scratch because every star player since Stinson and Blaylock jumped ship on him. There aren't a lot of coaches who could just magically start winning games after that. If (and probably when) Brackins leaves, it will be another setback. However, I think the foundation is being laid and recruiting is improving. GMac doesn't have a system that you can just insert new players in and expect automatic results. It will take more than a few years. I give him two more years to start seeing some results or JP will probably have to can him.

I know I was vocally ticked off last fall when they knocked down an entire concession and restroom for the sake of that JT Club, or whatever it was. Lines were horrendous - until they moved in about 40 porta-johns.

Pollard has been an epic disaster. The practice facility was monumentally necessary. You reference coaches from a different era and use it as a basis for comparison during the current recruiting arms race. Brilliant. Iowa is in deep crap because they still don't have one.

Pollard has been an epic disaster. Average fans don't appreciate more bathrooms? How about more space to move when leaving the game on the concourse? How about more concession stands?
If you're a recruit and you walk into State Gym and they say, "Oh, by the way, we practice in here sometimes," what is your response besides a little chuckle? Now when our new facility is finished, that changes.
Sanderson quit? Really? I didn't realize that!
The basketball team is getting worse? We've got intelligent young men avoiding jail time and we're good to go academically. We're recruiting players who on paper look to be better than what we have now. Next year will tell a lot about our basketball program.
Once again, your post proves to be a disaster.
