Wayne Morgan Sighting
I think I saw Wayne Morgan at yesterday's MBB game...he was the one in the striped shirt running up and down the basketball court. Seriously, it appeared the ref McD got into the discussion with went out of his way to "irritate/agitate" the team after the confrontation. He was the only one going to the ISU huddle from that point on to make sure they got back on the court (The other two never went to the Okla huddle after timeouts). He seemed to make sure he gave the coaching staff every opportunity to say something he could respond to...
During the game I sat with a couple of folks that do some small college officiating. Their biggest beef was with the All-American calls...the All-American always gets the break on a call (traveling/fouls/etc). That being said, Blake did lead the team in turnovers...
The team played though it well and I was pleased with the growth in Hamilton and DG. Hope it keeps coming.

Re: Wayne Morgan Sighting
We have never had a player that got that treatment. Many opposing players have been trated that way in Hilton.

Re: Wayne Morgan Sighting
We need Craig Brackins on some national lists so that we start getting those calls.

Fizer was 1st in the conference and 9th in the nation in Free Throws attempted back in 2000. Not sure if he relates to this post, but generally the more aggressive the player, the more calls they will get.

I agree Fizer got some calls in Hilton. Not sure he got them on the road.

I happened to see the local guy I know that evaluates the officials for Big 12, at the womens's game Sat nite, but didn't get a chance to ask him what he thought about the the above situation concerning the single Zebra always going to our huddle, looking for a chance to throw a technical. That was a shame to have that guy ref our game. It didn't cost us ther game but it is always harder when it is 5 against 6 or 8

Re: Wayne Morgan Sighting
He normally refs JUCO girls games in Iowa...don't know how the heck he got to do a Big 12 game

Wayne was at Wells Fargo on Saturday night watching the Ames vs. DSM-Lincoln game. Maybe he was just there early to watch Stinson and the Energy play.

Conversely, towards the end of Tinsley's senior year, teams started flopping all over when Tinsley would drive to the hoop. I don't recall how many charges he got against Baylor in the B12 tourney, but I bet at least 3.

Texas rushed the floor that night after beating us. How times have changed.

Re: Wayne Morgan Sighting
I go to a DIII college and I have seen the ref you are speaking of reffing our JV and Varsity games. The fact that someone can go from reffing DIII JV (barely a step above high school) to reffing a Big 12 game involving one of the top 5 teams in the nation is terrifying. Is there really that few refs?
This ref exhibits the same demostrative behavior in the DIII games I have watched. The basketball coach for the school I go to has gotten a grand total of 1 technical in his 10 plus years, and it was from this individual. He allows to back and forth from the coaches, refuses to give explanations and acts pompous and arrogant the whole game. These things are a little harder to see in a packed arena, but in a gym with 200 people in it you can really see that the guy is a hard-headed ***hole that shouldn't be anywhere near a basketball court.
